QEW + Warm Water + Absorber....

Luster

COMPULSIVELY ANAL
My QEW wash and dry method keeps evolving and getting more refined.

First, I have switched from using MF towels for the wash, to a large sheepskin washmit. The mitt hold 3-4 times as much water and lubricates very well. I do not wring the mitt at all, leaving it saturated with QEW water.

Also, I use 2 buckets, warm water (not hot), each with about 2 gallons.

Washing one panel at a time, from the top down, I follow washing by drying with the Absorber. I was using a MF waffle weave, or MF towel, or Cotton bath towel. But now I find the Absorber to be more absorbant than any of the above and I can dry faster with it. Plus, I can bucket rinse the Absorber after every drying pass.

I'm pretty pleased with this method.

As usual, Zaino is standing up well to sand, salt and road grime......

What's on the car now?
1. 3M SMR
2. Z5 x2
3. Z2 x2
4. Z6
5. UPPS.....

I haven't tried Z8 yet, but by next weekend I'm going to test UPPS & Z8 side by side.

How is your drying technique with the absorber? A wiping motion on just lay it on the surface and let it absorb that way? How dirty was the car before? Is the surface completly clean and dry when you are finished. Sorry for so many questions Bill. I'm, just like you, trying to refine my QEW process and I bought the absorber for normal washing and didn't care for it. So I was just curious if this would work for me aswell. Thanks Bill!

I used to use the Absorber, but stopped. I switched to a WW MF instead. The Absorber has no nap so any dirt left on your paint will be dragged across the surface creating marring. Even if your just blotting with it the Absorber can still mar the paint.

On another note, I just tried QEW for the first time today after reading so much about it. I think I need to refine my technique a bit as I didn't feel the QEW was lubricating very well even though I had added a few sprays of QD to the mix.

Car was covered with salt on the sides. Wash mitt was SATURATED with QEW water. No wringing.
I blotted it semi-dry, and then buffed with a MF.

You have to use LOTS OF WATER... I don't wring out the wash mitt at all.

My 2-gallon bucket was empty at the end of my car-wash.

I switched to a WW MF instead.
Yeah, I might give the WW another shot and compare the WW and the Absorber side by side.

Yeah, I was thinking that's where I went wrong. I was ringing out the wash mit just a bit before using it. I was concerned about getting a swimming pool in my garage from all the water.

I bought a floor squeegee (sp) for that purpose. It does make a bit of a mess, but your garage floor gets cleaned every week also!

Not a bad idea. My garage floor is nasty. I just had my kitchen done over and the workmen were using the garage as their workshop. So, there is saw dust, etc. all over the place in there.
