QEW and Zaino?

I've been viewing the forums for about three months now but don't post much, I just use the search feature. I haven't been able to find an answer to my question though.



I've been a long time believer in Zaino and my question for everyone is this--does QEW get the paint clean enough for using Zaino? I know that normally you are suppose to wash with Dawn and then QD Z6 before applying Zaino. Would QEW followed by a cleaner such as P21S Paint Cleansing Lotion or Poorboys SSR1 be sufficient to apply Z2 with ZFX?



I haven't used QEW yet but am probably going to purchase some in the near future to try for the first time assuming that QEW will get everything clean enough for Zaino use.



Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. :)

QEW is too gentle to use for the purpose of prepping before Zaino. Besides it also leaves a a slight wax residue because it is not rinsed off afterwards.



Use Dawn for best results but if you don't want to .at least use a regular car wash soap with no waxes and thoroughly rinse with water afterwards. You don't need to QD with Z6 before your initial application of Zaino...just use Z1 coat or ZFX mixed polish initially.

I wonder if this also means that this leftover residue would interfere with subsequent layering of zaino and other sealants (klasse)?

I do not do the Dawn wash.



I do a regular wash; clay as necessary, then use a good cleaner (like P21S, MF, or Medallion) and then iso/water wipe to get the surface squeaky clean. Then go with the Z. It bonds and works fine.



I think the main thing is to get the surface clean and free of swirls, etc...and also not to use a glaze (oils) or other waxy product before the Z. Want to get good bonding.
 
Considering how many different sealants Scottwax applies after a QEW and doesn't have problems, I think you might be okay considering you would first do a Z7 wipe any way.



I've used QEW and Zaino but never the 2 together... :nixweiss
