QEW and Tropicare sealant thoughts

I did another multi-product paint only detail that included Tropicares new sealant, QEW, Wolfgang sealant, and klasse VLRP on the plastic pieces. I couldn't wait to talk about the stars of the show, QEW and Tropicares New Sealant (T3).

That QEW stuff rocks! Man! I wish I would have taken before photos because the car was a mess. I didn't do the wheels yet so I will take pictures of the back wheels to give you an idea about how bad this car was. Only one cap full of QEW, a gallon of water, and a Sheepskin mitt took off all the dirt in one pass! When I dried with the absorber the car was perfectly set up to polish. I will go into it deeper tommorow but I think this is the best wash out there for me. I've struggled with car washes, either they're to expensive or they don't do the task I want them too. I do like Top-Of-The-Lines bubble bath, but after trying QEW and think I just switched.

Tropicares New Sealant T3: This stuff was a very good onestep product. John S. had posted that they had a trial size available for a nominal fee so I purchased that sample, it's pictured next to the QEW. I don't know anything about durabilty yet but this stuff has a beautiful deep wet shine! It goes on thicker and stays on thicker than Wolfgang, which is a plus for me personally. It's easy on easy off and doesn't stain trim. The stuff is very forgiving, I put it on thick and basically just wiped it all over. Then I applied the Wolfgang to the other side and by the time I was done, the T3 was completely dry and buffed off easy as anything. It's not water based ot carnuba based so it's probably a silicone or an oil or both. But for an express detailer this would be a good product.

I got a 3 ounce sample of the Tropicare for $2.25 or something like that but haven't tried it yet. Being a product junky that is just too cheap to pass up! It is good to hear that it is so easy to apply & remove and that it looks great. I am not overly concerned about durability...I have read a few posts complaining of the TC3 durability. It is always hard to make comparisons when people talk about durability...it is something you really have to try first hand unless you have controlled comparisons with identical prep on identical paint. Like I said I don't really worry that much about durability; I can't seem to leave anything on my car long enough.

QEW is a definite winner. I have been amazed at the amount of dirt it have removed without marring. It is one of those rare products where the name really is a great description. With the 2 for $10 ($15 with shipping) special it really is a good value...32 washes for $15 shipped.

I have to do a little research because this stuff was so deep and wet it might be a carnuba I'm not sure. If it is a true sealant with no carnuba, man they have a hit on their hands.

It contains no carnuaba.

Far as durability, Ive never had a problem with durability of TC and the only mention of durability that I'VE seen was from Guru Reports and as I've said before, while I don't doubt their testing methods, the product they used was obtained from a 3rd party and was the old TC3 formula (Which I again never had problems with).

Some new products on the horizon from TC as well which Steve should have on display at the Dallas Autorama. Steve has a new metal polish that I think is about ready for sale.. the other stuff, Im going to keep quiet about until Ive actually been able to test the samples he has for me.

TC-3 is a very nice one-step product. Glad you like it.

Exactly John, I went from QEW to T3 and I got that deep wet look. The whole detail was less than an hour. I'm not sure about cleaning abilty because the car was squeeky clean from the QEW, but this stuff definitely doesn't require a topper.

Only one cap full of QEW, a gallon of water, and a chenile mitt took off all the dirt in one pass!

Is there a reason you only used 1 capful for the gallon of water and not two? Im not bashing or anything just curious.

Looks like a really nice shine. I haven't tried any Tropi-Care products yet but I am looking for a good one step product for a couple of customers who prefer that. I like the Race Glaze Polish and Sealant but I'm always open to trying new stuff.

QEW has been my primary wash for 12 years now. I much prefer it to a conventional car wash soap.

I didn't use a full gallon at all, it was a gallon bucket and probably 3/4 full. I thought it would take two washes, so I was being thrifty. The surface of the car wasn't grity so I wasn't worried about marring. Also, since I knew I was going straight to sealant I didn't want any residue. This was the first time I used QEW and I didn't know that it leaves no residue. The paint was squeeky clean!

Do you guys find that QEW strips all old wax? That is what it seamed like but it had been a while since I detailied this lady's car.

I'm with Scottwax this is my new wash, anywhere to get big size cheaper?

Also, do any of you rinse after this product? I know you don't have to, but it kinda feels weird no rinsing. It was about 70 degrees and sunny today so I could have washed it conventionally, but i wanted to try this stuff. I thought about rinsing but this time anyway it wasn't needed.

Thanks for clearing that up :)

I do not find it to strip old wax off at all.

Gallons can be bought from Campingworld.com and if you become a member (something along those lines) you get additional savings. Last time I looked it was around $28 a gallon for non-members and $24ish for members. If you spend over $75 the shipping WAS a $1. (not sure if this is going on anymore or not).

I find that QEW is very gentle on wax. In fact, it does contain some form of wax in it. Nothing on the level of a spray and wax but I think it is there to help the wash pad glide over the paint more easily.

I put a coat of the new TC-3 on my wife's vehicle about 1 month ago. I had meant to put on 2 coats, but I haven't gotten any more of it since then. It's been holding up well. It looks almost as good today as the first day I put it on.

I found that TC-3 was so thick, it was easiest to apply with a PC and a grey pad. It seemed to me that applying it by hand caused you to apply it much thicker which is probably a waste. I got excellent results by applying it very thinly with a PC.
