QD'ing in the garage after driving through rain

I'm curious as to what some recommendations are for QDing a car that is wet from rain and has dirt thrown up from the tires. It's been rainy here for days, and it's forecast to rain in the following week as well. I'd still like to keep my car relatively clean. I just spent some time reviewing threads about quick detailing, but none of them discuss dirtiness from fresh rainfall. What I already have tried was to use my Turtle Wax Platinum Series QD spray applied directly to the car, and then I wiped it down with a Viking drying MF towel. I followed this up with a wipedown using different Viking MF towels.



Are the 12-pack MF towels at WalMart safe for QDing?

I would think you are better off washing the car in those circumstances instead of using a QD. I have tried to use QD before when my cars had excess dust and dirt on them and it usually just smeared. I really don't know about the higher quality QDs though, because I have yet to use one. Hopefully someone with more experience using QDs will be able help you out.
 
Yeah, I'd wash it. Just no way am I gonna risk marring the paint and have to polish it. If the car's not that dirty and your LSP is fairly fresh, it should go quickly. If you mar the paint, the whole "polish and redo LSP" process will *not* go quickly and you'll have lost some clear.
 
Poorboy's S&W is a good solution as long as it is light dirt:

Follow that up with some Poorboy's S&G (or ClearKote's Quik Shine) to add gloss and slickness (two of the best QD's out there IMHO).

I wouldn't use the Wal-Mart MF's for QD, order some quality MF's for use on your paint. Autopia, Excel and Pakshak are just three of many vendors that carry quality MF's:

If your really into keeping it clean, then spraying your vehicle and washing it off is the only option. After all rain and road grime is reason for a car getting dirty, and remember the cleaner all surfaces are the better your results will be. So do all you can to eliminate all the nasty stuff between you and your car. You will be happy with the results.
