qd after spray and wipe?

My order of poorboys' spray and wipe arrived today and I planned to try it on my car tonight.....The car is clean since it's only been driven a few miles on sunny day....my question is, should I use any quick detailer after spray and wipe??

The Spray and Wipe is actually meant to be a quick detailer. I never use anything after it.

The only thing I would suggest using after it would be a carnauba based quick detailer like Calestus suggested to help replenish some of your wax coating.

Where was this mentioned that Spray & Wipe was meant to be a QD?

In the product description on the web-site.

SPRAY AND WIPE

Waterless Wash & Fast Detailer <-------

No Hose, No Soap, No Mess!

Maybe I should try it as the final step. Evidently, you are happy with the results and have used several QD's so you would know if it is acceptable or not. I guess I just felt more comfortable in finishing up with the QD. Not doing it for a living, I quite often am less than efficient in both my use of time and use of products.

Charles:)

Your correct, it is on the web-site. But I find this odd as Steve is in the process of coming out with a quick detailer called QD+. I e-mailed him last week about it and a sample was shipped on Wed. for me to try.

It almost seems like I remember a post about using S&W for a QD and Steve suggested diluting the S&W 20% if you were using it as a QD rather than to clean a dirty car.

Maybe that's what he is doing to come up with a QD at a better price. $30 a gallon is not bad for something to clean cars, but regardless of some of the recent posts, it is still a little pricey for many of us to pay for a quick detailer.

It will be interesting to find out what the price per gallon will be. Have used his EX and Natural Look and I am sure this product will be just as good as those. The other thing about Poorboys is the way he does business, on Trust.

It doesn't seem to leave any residue on the paint and creates a clean finish. I have yet to test it on a really dirty vehicle though. I might have to do that in the future.

So far, I haven't convinced myself to clean a really dirty vehicle with QEW or S&W. Anytime I used either product, it was after going through a touchless drive-thru or washing most of the dirt off at the spray wand wash. Both products did well at removing the haze and film that the touchless washes leave.

Chances are, that's where I picked up the habit of QD'ing after using S&W. I did it after QEW, and I thought I needed to do it after S&W as well. So, I wasted a little time & product. The vehicles always looked good, worked for me.:)

Based on comments from other threads, I an currently using 3 "formulations" of S&W. The first is 100% product as shipped by Steve, the second 50/50 S&W/distilled water, the third 60/40 S&W/Mother's Showtime QD.

The 100% dilution is being used for cleaning the car when it is past a QD clean but under a QEW "wash", and for bird bombs.

The 50/50 is being used for QD and exterior glass.

The 60/40 is also being used for QD, exterior glass, and bird bombs.

The products are being used in full sun and in the garage and are performing in both conditions as expected. I have not experienced any smearing. The one area I am particularly happy with is the performance of S&W on the windshield. It really seems to shed water with great ease.

OK ..I'll chime in....yes the Spray and Wipe can be used as both a waterless wash and Quick Detailer...with dilution or not...

The finish it is being applied to will deteermine what job it does..

For Intel who dilutes it in half...he's using after he's finished putting on his products and is removing some lint or fine residue..the finish is shiny and smooth...the Spray and Wipe is just enhancing his work...this is also true for those who are just trying to maintain their hard work...if your finish is near or due to be Polished and then wax or sealant applied..it will not create a shine of its own to extend the product previously applied months ago.

Now to the New QD+ ..secrets around here are not safe...

Now after reading what people want...this is totally different than Spray and Wipe...this is a Carnuba product meant to add more depth and maintain the EX for even longer periods of time. I've read how many people are putting toppers on the EX, mostly with Carnuba...so call the new QD+, an enhancer and extender of EX...the few people who have played with it have seen more and more depth, especially on dark vehicles...and no there is none available at the moment...there are still a few small things, like sprayers that we are still EXperimenting with...

Hope I helped clear this thread up a little..otherwise pm or e-mail me..thanks to you all...

I've used the QEW on really dirty vehicles and it works fine. I feed it through a garden sprayer though so I can hose down a panel.

This is from steve older posts

quote [ The Spray and Wipe is not intended to create shine but clean and enhance what you have. If you use it on a dirty dull car...all you'll get is a clean dull car...people who have flat black trim or striping on their vehicles have been blown away, because it leaves the flat ...flat but clean. ]

so to add shine, yes QD is good.

steve QD+ was a secret until this thread:Datleast for me. i'm still EXperimenting EX. and will let you know how it goes.

good luck guys

Thanks for the comment....I just tried S&W without diluting and I'm satisfied with the result....no streak or residue at all.....I don't know if it makes any difference in shine, I guess I have to wait until tomorrow and bring the car outside (my garage is not bright enough)

I'll try to dilute s&w with distilled water and use it as a qd maybe tomorrow....... I will also try full strength s&w as waterless wash on my friend's car (he doesn't care about his car) It was raining today, so tomorrow is a good time to try "waterless wash" :D

:) :) :)

It sure was nice to have a discussion and exchange of ideas without a bunch of crap being flung about. Not everyone has the same opinions, but it seemed that everyone's opinion was welcome.

Less petty bickering could be a good thing for Autopia.

I am chiming in here late (I was under a rock:o ).

I have used s&w with no dilution and as a waterless wash: I have seen no marring on the paint, the process takes 15-20min, I clean all the windows with it too, it is great to use in the sun, and it leaves my paint shiny!! (as if I had recently detailed the car:up ). I do not use it as a qd (I like it too much theway I am using it) and I am eager to try out QD+ (Steve you listening:o !!!!)
