Q: Long-lasting polish/glaze with fillers

Do you know of a glaze or polish or similar product that use fillers that are relatively durable? I know that oils usualy used in such products dissipate in a couple of weeks if not less. I'm wondering if Duragloss or FK or CG (or anybody else for that matter) has such a product.

Compatibility issues?

Thanks as always.

I am quite satisfied with my FK1 303 glaze. Bites/fills well and durable. Initially it doesn't seem to add much to the surface but after the LSPs look better & wetter. My VM & RMG are too new to give a meaningful answer.

Swirlbuster amazed me.

Can you be a little more specific? What was so amazing? Performance? Price? Taste? :)

I'm looking for a good dark-car swirl remover/filler...but I'd like personal opinions rather than ad copy to go by.

Certainly. I am one of the guys who dreads breaking out the PC to polish swirls away. I just don't like the hassle. I'd rather glaze over them honestly. Previously, I had been using 1ZPP, Menzerna, Optimum, the SSRs, and some of the Meg's cleaner/polishes. No matter what I tried, I could NOT remove my light swirling (the test car is a 2005 that I bought new... it had only accumulated the usual washing induced marring from a few careless washes, nothing serious). I just got the Swirlbuster polish and pad in the mail yesterday, and polished the horizontal panels on my car as they were the worst. I used the Swirlbuster pad with the SB polish, at speed 6 with heavy pressure and slow arm speed for the first pass. I wiped the panel clean with a MF and #34. I then followed up with a slow, light pressure pass at speed 4 to hopefully get more effect from the filling properties of this polish. I can say that 95+% of the swirls were either removed, or effectively filled in. Either way, I don't really care, because the acrylic properties of this polish is advertised to last much longer than traditional glazes, plus I waxed over it right away. However, the finish did certainly not need waxing from a visual standpoint. It looked great and felt nice and slick right after the SB polish. I was very pleased because even using Meguiar's pure polishes (#5 and #7), I could NOT fill these isolated swirls in).

So I guess in summary, the reason I am so pleased with the polish is because even with my very limited patience when it comes to swirl removal, I got professional results with only two passes. One pass on some panels was sufficient. I checked them tonight under the lights at the gas station, and the finish is crystal clear with no marring.

As for the taste, I'll have to get back to you on that one, but it does smell good :waxing:

Thanks again, you guys gave me some very useful info. I did some searches on the products you mentioned so I can get additional knowledge.

I usually use the Klasse twins. I imagine AIO will remove the stuff. Will SG be compatible with any of them? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it would work with the Sonus Swirlbuster, at least. Thanks again.

KSG can definitely be used over Swirlbuster.

I've heard great things about Swirlbuster, but if you don't really need all that polishing action have a look at CG EZ Creme Glaze. It's another acrylic polymer glaze, so it too can be topped with KSG--and I'm sure that would lock in the fillers for a long long time. But, hopefully the marring on your car isn't TOO bad because it doesn't fill in marring as well as traditional oil glazes.

I have ordered Prima Amigo, a polymer glaze, from Detailer's Paradise. Will let you know how it turns out.

One thing that appealed to me about Amigo compared to SwirlBuster, is that Amigo has fine abrasives, so it hardly cuts the paint. It doesn't really remove swirls, but slightly refines the paint, like SFX-3. Perhaps I am way overestimating how abrasive Swirlbuster is, but being able to use Amigo more often appealed to me.

At the same time, the Swirlbuster seems very convenient and perhaps it is actually quite mild.

I have scratches and swirls in my dark green car that someday I will have to buff out . In the meantime I use spray waxes with fillers, and the best one I found is Nano spray. I use it once a week and my car looks great. If you want it to last longer then after 3 weeks spray on a coat of Duragloss AW, then it will look great for a longer period of time. Just food for though , what about using Mothers Sealer and Glaze , then following with AW. The S n G will fill in the swirls and the AW will protect it.

Jeffs Werkstatt product don't have fillers. some of the chemical component has filler propertise. But it only last for a vey short time.

Nothing will hide swirls and scratches very long. Some products are durable , and will bead water a long time, and some will be slick a long time, but none will hide swirls very long . My solution is to just use a spray wax with fillers after every wash. It only adds 10 minutes to your wash time.

I have been using EO Nanowax Spray on occasion and its fillers are very good considering the product type. I did have an episode where I used it on a warm surface in the sun right after a wash and it left difficult to remove haze. I'd QD it and it would reappear. Finally, I use AIO and it emoved it. But my swirls are back (they're minor but annoyingly visible).
