well it was great here in San Diego today, so i thought it would be a good time to detail the civic.
I had already clayed the car about a month ago, so i went and did a wash with EO wet soap, then let the h20 pour onto the car, sheated nicely. Blotted/pulled the Absorber here and there. then i #34'd it with a MF. I ened up doing the *whole* left side of the car & rear section with the following:
Mother's scratch remover with a terry app. let dry to haze wipe off w/ MF. I also had a trial size of Rightlook's clearcoat compound, tried that as well....couldnt see any difference.
Then i #34 the car down again.
Then i used rightlook's polish, w/ yellow foam app pad from Meg's; let dry to a haze and wiped off. (only polish i had, dont know which polish to buy yet..)
then #34 again.
Then i applied a trial size of glaze that davidB gave me (forgot what it is) with yellow foam pad again. i didnt know if i could apply and wipe off or had to let it haze, so i did 1/2 the panels either way.
then i applied mothers pure Carnuaba paste wax with a 100% egyptian cotton hand towel (dropped my last unused foam pad!!!) and let dry to a haze, buffed off w/ MF.
#34 again.
Prior to the paint, i dressed all the rubber, did the windows etc.
the questions i have are, about how long u need to let things dry/haze. i know wax needs a bit of time. i used a new app and towel for every product as well.
the car was in Orgeon for 6 out of 7 years so there are chips, dings etc. the spiderwebs seemed to go away, as did 90% of the swirls, but human hair sized scratches did not...although my nail did not catch on them so maybe more of the scratch remover would have help....oh i applied that with LOTS of elbow grease, and went back and forth, wiped when the product started making skeaking sounds on the paint...was that too hard? and it got dark so i have no pix, but will post some when the whole car is completed.....
:xyxthumbs
2nd question: when i bought the car, paid honda for their lifetime paint sealant.....(sheesh) well davidB looked at the hood and he/we think that the clear coat has failed, loks like tons of chicken feet imprints......anybody think i can take this to honda and get a repaint on the hood? just a thought?
thanks for all the help though!!!!!
