:down

I did my Ranger today, pics to come soon.

1.) C-19 Cherry Suds

2.) Clay Away4 with C-19 Car Wash. This didn't do jack **** squat to the finish. Like rubbing air on air:angry

3.) P-21 Polish, went on ok, not much shine here:mad:

4.) P-39 PolymerII Sealant, went ok great, not much shine. It's a sealant what do you expect for shine. Ok on this step

5.) P-35 Satin Creme Wax, Easy to spread and take off but still not much shine.

I am not seeing any reason to like BAF Indudtries, I did everything according instructions and I did all this with a PC 7424. I"m pissed,,,,,,,,91

I didn't do the dawn wash because I didn't want to affect my trim. Maybe this had the effect on the clay bar and appereance of my Ranger???????? Anybody in Ohio close to Willard for detailing lessons??????,,,,,91

The dawn wash would not have have removed anything that your polish didn't. I am not familiar with Pro's products, so cannot comment, but Dawn or not Dawn would not have been a factor.

ok dumass me!!!

When claying, a Qd works better and when I used the Car wash for the lub, it made the surface too slippery hence the clay wasn't able to grab hold of anything.

this time when I reclay I'll use the QD instead of the wash, anybody care to argue to this point??????? 91

:nixweiss I've never had a problem using clay with car wash soap. Seems to work fine-but I do use a bar that is 50% Clay Magic Blue and 50% Meguiars Body Shop Pro Overspray Clay.

I used the C-19 cherry Suds wash, just felt like rubbing a bar of soap over a smooth peice of glass even though the surface was never clayed before. I wasn't picking up anything, I used back and forth strokes, light to moderate pressure and kept a clean surface on the clay. What am I doing wrong?????????:nixweiss :nixweiss :nixweiss

Sorry if these questions sound ultra-stupid, but you seem to be in a real bind and I'd like to help. Does the paint feel like it actually needs claying, as in does it feel rough? Also, did the clay come with a plastic wrapping and you've removed it?

F-150_91-If the paint doesn't need to be clayed, the bar will glide right over it. If the paint feels smooth after you wash it, you don't need to clay. If it feels gritty, then you do.

Coupla things come to mind straight away.

Claying SHOULD feel pretty smooth, like it isnt picking anything up.

If its dragging you need more lube.

Baggie test will tell you if its made a difference to the paint.

Secondly, if the paints oxidised to any degree, maybe your not using something harsh enough to remove all that junk cos no matter how hard ya polish, dead paint will always look like dead paint until you cut it back.
