Protecting Plastics

Hey guys,

I have an 07 f-150 that I use as a pleasure vehicle on the weekends. Unfortunately, it sits outside for most of the week and although i keep up with washing and waxing the vehicle, I never take the proper time to treat the exterior plastics (running boards, cowl, mirrors, etc.)

What products do you suggest for deep cleaning the plastics and protecting them as well?

And what is this ONR or OBR wash I keep reading about?

ONR is Optimum No Rinse.

As the name implies, it is a wash/shampoo that does not require a rinse.

There are some videos on youtube that will show you how it works. I have used it before and it is great if you want to conserve water or wash in a garage during winter months.

Some will say that it is dangerous for your paint for scratches, etc. I havent had any problems with it yet.

I cant recommend anything for the plastic, sorry.

Poorboy's Trim Restorer is great for restoring plastics. Keep them protected with something like 303 Aerospace Protectant.

Wasn't there a post on this forum some time ago that the plastics on Ford Pick Ups didn't take well to the usual protectants and the recommendation was to use ArmorAll Tire Gel??

I just did a Ranger PickUp and used Optimum OptiSeal on the grained vinyl with success.
