Protecting new headlights - 303 or Plexus?

Greetings all,

I installed new headlight assemblies to replace the old faded ones about a month ago.

I was wondering which would be considered better for protecting the new plastic headlights, 303 Aerospace Protectant or Plexus (and how often to apply)? Would prefer to use one of the two mentioned protectants, but I am open to recommendations of other products.

Thanks!

Matt

Plexus has polishing agents (chemical, not sure about mechanical) that would remove the factory coating that's supposed to last about a year. So you will have to make sure that you are keeping the them protected. 303 would be a conditioner w/ protectant. I polish my headlights with a AIO, currently ZAIO, and then seal them again with my LSP so they are protected for a much longer time than Plexus or 303 can do. I keep them clean at each weekly wash and wipe them down with detail spray and also whatever topper I'm into, Z8 or DG AW usually. So I basically treat the headlights like the paint.

+1, I treat mine like the paint. PlastX is good for clearing headlights up, but do they have some sort of protectant was well? I think they do.

For about $50.00 you wouldnt have to worry about it again with a PPF kit, and its not even detectable....(or you could get a tinted kit)

Thanks everyone. Was looking into getting some protection film installed. Installer wanted $120 for paint protection film on the headlights. Seems expensive to me.

Thats about right. The kits run about $50.00. I do them for about $100.00 though...

Wow. Is it really worthed? I mean, is it guaranteed that it won't be damaged or scratched? I don't mean to sound like a smart a** but just curious about it. :)

Some of the kits I've read about will supposedly protect against some pretty nasty impacts, and will thus save your lights from getting shattered by stones/etc. With the cost of some headlights, a hundred and some, or even a few hundred dollars, is a bargain.

And some headlights (T-84s for GM B-bodies) are literally irreplaceable, you simply can't buy them anymore. Protection film is worth whatever it costs in cases like that.

[Shoot], I oughta take my own advice and buy some X-pel films for the Audis...

Thanks Patrick. Maybe I'll "bite the bullet" and just get it done. It's already been over a month since I got them. They still look clear.
