Protecting my new truck, where do I start.

I have been reading about exterior finish cleaning and care here for a couple evenings now. There is so much information here I’m having trouble deciding which steps are right for me. My truck is black, 1 year old and I have been washing with meguiars gold class, dry with micro fiber towels and wax every couple months with meguiars deep crystal canuba wax. The truck is not garaged and is a daily driver.



I haven’t attempted polishing and not sure my truck needs it yet. Maybe a good cleaner, sealer and wax. If some of you kind folks would direct me to previous posts that apply to my situation I’d be very grateful.
 
If it doesn't need polished then it sounds like you're already on the right track. The only other thing I can think that you may want to look in to is applying a sealant. DP's new sealant has been getting great reviews and I have been putting it on all cars now. DP Poli-Coat Paint Sealant
 
I used to use Meguiars Deep Crystal Carnauba paste wax and it was so so at best. Durability was average. For about the same price Duragloss #101 Polish and Sealant is night and day better esp in durability. Since its a true polish it will remove some slight microscratches. Great stuff!



For your chrome trim another excellent cleaner and sealant is their marine polish #501.



For in between waxing the DG Aquawax is a spray sealant and provides some decent protection and great shine. Smells great too.

Premium Car Care & Car Detailing Products - Car Wax - Car Polish – Car Shine - Wheel Cleaners also available at many stores by clicking the appropriate tab. Must haves are the Grime Destroyer. Only use prior to applying protection since it will strip any sealant. The Dash Away is a great cleaner for the interior.
 
Thanks for the replies. The DP Poli-Coat Paint Sealant sounds like a good choice. I have wax on the finish now so based on what I have read I will want to use a pre wax cleaner or possibly clay then the sealer.
