Protect your pictures on your web site!!

This gets really annoying after awhile. There must be hundreds of pictures of work I did on other company sites! Here is the latest I just had emailed to me.

This speak volumes about the character of the the thief in question.

Many of you will recognize the picture from the Lamborghini event we detailed for a few years ago.

PICTURE THIEF

And here is the write up where he got the pics from I guess. They are also on my web site -

Lamborghini Job

I know I know I should have watermarked my pics..... moral of the story protect your pics!!

Honestly, if someone wants your pics, they will take them and photoshop the watermark out like it was never there. Posting them here or on another forum will date them and show ownership.

 thats crazy, I hope to one day have your level of skill to have people feel confident in leaving that much worth of cars in my care.

Looks like the clown must have removed the pictures. His gallery came up empty. Like to see him try and explain that to his customers. It's a shame you have to put up with this again Joe.

What is wrong with people. If it aint you work leave it alone. People that do that r retards. I can not understand why some people claim work that is not theres. By the way nice work on the lambos

Simple business ethics. I could not live with myself if I was posting pictures of other people's work and advertising it, like it was my own. The same goes for website copy, which is also frequently plagiarized. Bottom line, it is easy to get into this business and easy to create a website. Because of this, you have to continue to differentiate yourself from the the fly-by-night operations.

I was just thinking the same thing when I read through their website. They must be from the future with their Claybar wax formula too.......idiots.

Its bad to know this is still happening, and even worse; it'll continue to happen to great detailers that have some beautiful pictures. I can't stand people having cars on their websites that they've never touched (rendered graphics), let alone stealing pictures from other detailers.

lol on the "clay bar" section they have hood (that they probably stole from online) polished 50% and make customers believe clay bar will do that!

actual quote:

"it works well on plastic, trim and glass as well as on matte-finish plastics that are free of coatings. Because Clay Bar is so effective at removing deposits from your paint it also removes wax as well so be prepared to re-wax the areas on your car that you applied the clay bar to."

yeah, it removes deposit for the next detail from them for sure.

Late with the topic, however the problem that I have dealt with in the 1.5 years of being in Austin is that I have a local auto detailing shop that likes to "borrow" specific wording from my site and use as their own. I don't understand how/why other shops feel like it's OK to do and not think about ethics.

Must of had some SEO guy write up the descriptions that knows nothing about detailing... :)

It wouldn't surprise me as the only intelligent pieces on their site are what were taken from mine ........ lol. It all comes around I guess.

Joe that is bad as stealing is stealing, here is a lame brain who does not take pics but steals my name(lol). The infamous "Andy" who paraphrased my website and literally cut n pasted Paul Dalton's website......... in the "Porfolio" section you can see his wannabe Brad Pitt tattoo on his forearm.

This is the same guy Joe who wanted someone to detail a Gulfstream @ Orange County Airport, but he could not do it(Me thinks this due to having a business in So Cal/Denver/Norcal/Katy Texas as he details and runs a limo biz, plus a "Concierge" service with no contact phone number or e-mail).

Here is the link.........

If someone local to you is using your name, website copy, or pictures call them out on it directly. If they are not responsive, tell them you will take legal action. It is called "right of usage". If you are the creator of that content, you have the right to use it without others stealing it from you. It does not have to be trademarked officially if you are the first person to use it.

One way to protect your images on your own website is to make sure all the pages have a "disable right click" coded into them. This will prevent your images and your text from getting copy/pasted. See the following site, OR google that phrase for more info.

no right click, disable copy and paste, secure web site

Still may not work. It's as simple as viewing the , "Page Source Code". The image(s) links are imbedded in the HTML page. Highlight the photo address and paste it into the "Address" bar at the top of the browser.

If there is any PHP scripting it may not be as easy or visible...
