Proper care for rust stain removal?

What are some of the different methods you guys use for removing rust surface stains on paint?

The bottom of my fender rotted out and I do have a replacement panel, however it spread to the surface of the rocker panel, what are the safest methods for the paint?

Thank you!

The pic was taken a while ago, it's now much worse.

kylemstn- Depending on how deeply it's penetrated the clear, you might need to repaint the rocker too. Might have more-than\-cosmetic rust that will require work anyhow, doubt that they'll know for sure until they start the work.

If you *can* remove the rust stains, the products I'd consider are ValuGard's "B" and/or the acidic decontamination stuff from FinishKare (sorry, forget the number for it). The FK stuff is more potent, but also more likely to damage things (requiring you to repaint after all). EIther one will require a *LONG* dwell time IMO, that looks pretty severe.

Been through this, and I'm actually going through it now. I have an appt to get my front fender repainted on one of my cars due to a quarter size area of rust. Of course, the rust stained the bumper below.

I found Iron X to clean it right up. Just two applications to clean up the staining with a little agitation from my fingers. Really quite impressive.

Thanks for the feedback guys! As I said I have a new fender just the stuff under it is my issue, ill try some iron x or a similar product, maybe sonax fall out remover?
