Project Car #1
Vehicle: 2000 Maxima SE
Color: Super Black w/ Frost Interior
Paint Condition:
The vehicle has pretty decent paint. However, due to the infamous dealer prep, I saw a boatload of swirls. Then, on closer inspection, the vehicle has some etching from bird droppings.
Vehicle also has some bonded contaminants in the paint.
Plan of Attack:
- Wash vehicle with Meguiar's Gold Class
- Clay vehicle with Clay Magic (including rims and glass)
- Go over painted surfaces with FI-II and PC w/White Pad in order to remove swirls and bird bomb etchings.
- Polish with Klasse All In One
- Top w/ Klasse Sealant Glaze
- After final coat of sealant glaze, top with S100
Project Car #2
Vehicle: 2002 Maxima SE (yep, the 60 days is over!!)
Color: Gray Lustre w/ Black Interior
Paint Condition:
Decent condition but has some swirling from its days as a dealer demo. Also, has some bird bomb etching (but not as many as the previous Maxima). Also, left rear quarter, rear bumper, and part of top have new paint .
Plan of attack:
- Clean wheel wells and back of rims with EF HI
- Wash vehicle with Meguiar's Gold Class
- Clay vehicle with Clay Magic (including rims and glass)
- Polish glass with Zaino Z12
- Go over painted surfaces with 3M SMR for Dark Colored Cars.
- Polish with Klasse All In One
- Top w/ Klasse Sealant Glaze
- After final coat of Sealant Glaze, top with Pinnacle Souveran
Interior:
- Clean glass with MF and Stoners Invisible Glass
- Clean Vinyl surfaces with Lexol Leather Cleaner
- Treat Vinyl surfaces with 303 Protectant
- Pre-Treat Interior with EF Spot Remover and agitate
- Clean Seats and carpet with EF Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner and follow with steam extractor
- Clean headliner with EF Carpet and upholstery cleaner on a terrycloth towel
- Polish Interior Plastics with Plexus
- Clean mats with diluted EF HI
Engine:
Yes, I am going to take a chance and do it.
The question is whether or not I am missing any steps on either Maxima.
