Professional Interior Cleaning...

I recently did a car with a smokeer who owned it. The car was sold to a friend of the family who is a new driver and does not smoke. I cleaned the interior as normal and told the kid right away that the smoke smell should be better but will not go away completely, this time.

My intentions were to wait for my Mytee extractor to be shipped that same week and have another go at it. The idea is to really treat the "tar" out of the headliner. I believe this will help rid of the smell but, am convinced that other steps need to be taken. I have some good ideas, ie. ac duct cleaning, ozone machine etc. but, was wondering what the pros would do in this case. Any chemicals or methods that will work the first time.

I know an ozone machine is really the only way to eliminate the odor forever. There are some chemicals though that can help reduce the odor somewhat, but ozone is the way to go.

www.properautocare.com should have something.

Be very careful using extractor on the headliner. Headliners have an outer layer of cloth which we see from inside the car, that is held on by glue which is attached to foam and plastic which make up the headliner. Buy wetting the headliner and getting it to deep you can weaken the glue and the cloth will start to bubble like an old car.
