Back when I got all serious about getting into detailing, I signed up to get Professional Carwashing & Detailing magazine. It's 99% for those autowash places. But, it does have a decent article or info in it every so often.

The current issue has just such information. Professional Carwashing & Detailing magazine's '2007 Conveyor Benchmarking Survey Report' has some prime info that I think folks out there, who detail for a living, would get use out of. I was thinking pro detailers could use it 'against' the autowash places and try to draw in more biz for yourseld. Stuff like what draws people into those places (for you to use to target YOUR biz' advertising), the frequency/ time of year that people get their cars washed at those places (so you could double your efforts to advertise YOUR detailing biz at that time too!). That kind of stuff. Below is a link to what they've got online:

I've tried to find a e-copy of the report. But, they want $50 for it. Sorry, I ain't paying that. I thought about scanning and PDF'ing it on autopia. But, there's all this copyright mess and lawyers that I don't care to deal with.

If you PM me, maybe we could work something out where I can send you the article.

interesting site. Eduacting customers is a huge part of our game. I am 100% non automated wash. I let everyone know the danger of swirls and other damage caused by autowashes. When i first got to this area I couldnt beleve that the two biggest full serve washes charge 150 dollars to pull your car through a brush conveyor and then towel dry it and drench your upholstry with a rug doctor. It takes 4 hours for your detail and 3 hours of that is dry time. Once you explain this difference to a customer and they experience the difference, the word spreads quickly.
