Products Just tried Optimum brand

I tried Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel 32 oz.. Well product said it works for interior vinyl as well! Did the opposite I did a square on my black dashboard next morning it looked dried out and discolored. NOT happy with that. Someone got in my car today and actually pointed out and said what happened their, there is a perfect square of discoloration..



So it claims to work interior and doesnt! As for tire gel its really not that glossy I still need to see durability. Says it works on outside trim. At first applied looks great once again next day didnt look GREAT looked ALITTLE better but not Great.



Also tried



Optimum Leather Protectant... Also tried this out and no difference in color or anything. Made my leather seats slick and when I sat in them I was sliding around a little bit. Its not greasy tho just very slick..



So far these 2 products not very happy at all..



For trim I think im going to try Poorboys Trim Restorer



For tires I have no clue yet..



For interior vinyl/dash/leather etc. Im thinking Ill go back to aerospace... Its just so expensive I was seeing if something performs as good as aerospace and was cheaper.



Any input?
 
OLC is supposed to leave the surface looking like it came from the factory, ie not shiny. If you don't like that look, make sure you steer clean of leathermasters and 1Z.



I don't think I've ever head anyone using Opti-bond inside of the car, but as always, do a small test spot before you go wild with a product. If you want lots of shine, Megs Hyperdressing should work for you.



It sounds like you are getting frustrated with your product choices lately. I think it would be wise to do a little more research and ask questions before you grab something and end up disappointed.

I am not looking for "Shiny" car trim just a deep dark black! a deep black nothing glossy..



As for Optimum leather protectant Idk color of seats or dash didnt change I couldnt tell a difference really. But when I applied 303 before it kind of darkened my dash to a nice deep dark black not a glossy or greasy look just darker. It seems like the leather protectant didnt change anything..



I am still playing with the opti bond tire gel. To get a feel for it. I am currently testing it on 3 cars on exterior trim pieces.



i hear all good things about poorboys trim restorer.. On autogeek there is 2 or 3 reviews on the product and another review comparing it to other trim products so far it is one of the best. So I think ill order some of that for trim. Not sure what to do for tires yet...



and IDK if I am staying with OLC or go back to Aerospace or what. I just loved how Aerospace made the colors deeper and more rich looking but still not greasy or oily at all.

you mean my optimum leather protectant...I google optimum protectant plus and thats the one that keeps coming up came up on autogeek like that and amazon so I am assuming by protectant plus you mean what I already have?
 
I did the same thing and thought that the optimum protectant was for everything and didnt know about protectant plus.

Im super confused that 2nd picture you posted I cant find that anywhere?? I searched optimums website, autogeek, autodetailingsolution, and detailedimage.. Where do I get the optimum protectant plus..

If I remember right they're functionally the same product. The protectant plus is an older formula which was more liquidy (and possibly didn't smell as nice? forgot). The leather protectant is an updated formula that is more thicker with a new scent.



Try google imaging the product and you'll find ... for example, check the link here or here, clearly shows how 303 would have compared to optimum protectant plus. At the time I was also looking for an alternative, but because I found 303 too glossy and strayed too far from oem look. Optimum actually does darken black/dark trim, but not as much as 303. If your looking for 303 alternative, I've used 1z rubber/vinyl care and autoglym rubber/vinyl care that offer that dark look of 303.
 
Hope you get better luck with Opti-Bond. I have loved it so far on the tires. I do dilute it 1:1 with Distilled water and spray it on the tires, and make sure everything is covered, do the other tires, and come back with a MF misted with OB and wipe down the residual OB.

thanks ill give that a try
 
Forget the PBTR and pick up some Ultima Tire & trim Guard. You would also be much happier with the Ultima Interior Guard Plus. Sure they cost more but you use so much less product that it is cheaper in the long run.
