Products for white cars?

Hey everyone I've been lurking around reading on the forums for awhile and I always seem to come across people talking about products that work well with dark colors, but never lighter colors/white.

Are there any tips to keep a white car looking its best? Or preferable products for white paint like there seems to be for darker paints?

Thanks in advanced

If a product works well on a dark car, then it works well on a light car. Lets say a product works well on a dark car that has a clear coat. You have a white car with a clear coat. They both got clear coats. The same product will work just as well. Problem is that you will have difficulty seeing the results on the lighter car because it doesnt show it as much as a darker car.

As many will tell you, one of the big things about keeping a white car looking its best is to make sure all the trim is kept in tip-top shape. The contrast between the white paint and the blackness of the trim, tires, wheel wells, etc. is what really make the car stand out.

That being said, realize that it's very difficult to get a white car to "pop" like it is for darker colors. It's really very subtle, and while white great for hiding minor swirls and scratches, that also means its harder for you to correct any defects that might be there as you won't see them as clearly.

My advice to you is to first polish the car to remove any marring that might be there. Follow that up with a good sealant of your choice, and then finish off with Natty's Blue (which I've found to be very nice on my white car). Make sure all the trim and tires are as dark as can be, and don't forget the glass either, as this can make a big difference in the look of any car, not just white.

This was my original starting off point, and while you can then branch off from there, this will give you a good base to work from.

my silver impreza looked good with megs #7 & #26, or mother's synwax fx for those quickies.

both look good on my wife's white solara too. the mother's synwax isn't all that great on my dark blue subie though.

My 2 cents.

Use a synthetic/polymer on white -especially on the plastic bumper & trim areas. In my experience, most every carnauba product will cause the plastic pieces to 'yellow' over time, which will cause your white body panels to contrast against the plastic.

Thanks for all the advice guys!

Just waiting for the weather here to clear up to start my detailing adventures. I've got some megs nxt tech wax, mothers quick detailing spray, megs gold shampoo/conditioner, stoners invisible glass, some megs quick interior detail and megs endurance tire shine so far.

I'll be picking up a PC and the Sonus perfect shine kit before summer hits!

DG105 on white is my favorite:

I agree.

Currently using OPS/DG 105x2 that makes my white paint bright and wet looking. I also follow-up with AWx2 after washes. :2thumbs:

Good luck!

We have a white Volvo, and I can honestly tell you that I do not think all products work good on both light and dark cars, because we also have a Black H2. My products of choice for the white car are as follows.

Megs #26

Nattys Paste

Menzerna FMJ

Zaino Z2 Pro

All of these seem to give out really good results.
