Products for Red 360 Ferrari? Save me from buying $1100 Zymol Vintage

I was told by a very knowledgeable and trustworthy source that the soft PPG paint on Ferrari's required a different level of care. That the polishes, cleaners, glazes, waxes, etc that I had previously used on my Porsches were not optimal for the Ferrari's paint.

:buffing:

What do you guys think, which products would you suggest for the various detailing steps on a Red/Black 360 Ferrari Spider?

Thanks.

Mike.

I dont buy that whole thing saying it needs special care. The people who own those cars want to think the rides need speical care. I would say use whatever you use on any other car, you may get more clients if you convice them your doing somthing special.

i like zymol, ihavent speend 1100 yet but there good produucts in my books, perhaps trying somthing like creme or carbon. its about the price of sov. but i like it better, (and yes ive tried both)

But back to the topic at hand, no there is no special requiments just becsue its mroe expenive. (assming that you do propper work that wouldnt gurt another car, if you use steel wool, which im assumin your not, then ya it does but normaly no)

Emmm.....$1852 USD. I would just hang around here and observe some of the combinations that other members have had success with, and experiment. Select a good polish team, and then compare several lsp's and determine which combination works well for you ....(then try a zymol...had to sneek that one in lol!)!

I'd take Chris' word on this one...I think his recent run of red Ferrari's should attest to his solid procedure. I mean, look at those pictures!

Thanks! After working on the Ferrari's and talking with other owners and a Ferrari Technician... Ferrari Paint is definetly different from other paint. It is VERY SOFT and AND VERY THIN! If anyting do mulitple passes with a light polish such as FPII. The F430 I did unfortunately was bad enough to where FPII didnt have enough cut to get rid of the buffer induced swirls it had. I wish I didnt had to resort to using anything more aggresive than FPII but in that certain case I did :(

The Swissol Scuderia is marketed/made for Ferrari paint ad goes for 120 usd roughly. I used it on the 89 Single stage paint 328 and LOVED it. I like it more than Pinnacle Souveran. Here is the link for swissol...

lbls1- BTW I was able to find ONE Zymol Sampler Kit left across my nationwide search. I definetly paid a premium over MSRP since its so rare now! :( Dont ask how much I paid! It was still worth it in the sense!

Oh no...I want one too :( Would also pay bigg $$ for a sampler kit

Thank you Chris. I was just getting into all the threads returned from my forum searches, and had gone through yours.

At $1800, I am over the Vintage, but let's say you had $400 to spend on a wax, what would you choose? The Zymol Ital, the Swissol Scuderia, or something else (even less expensive), one of the other Zymols? I think I have my polishing and prep stages down now. I was just afraid using my Menzerna was going to do something terrible to the paint. So no glazes used like the 3M Imperial Hand Glaze or Red Moose?

As long as you don't ask me what I paid, silence is golden friend!!! :xyxthumbs

I'd spend that amount ONLY if you are sure that you want to try out the exotic end waxes with a goal of a fair test. If that's the case, then I'd try either of the EG's like Concours, Ital, or Glasur..a high content carnauba at a decent price...as far as the EGZymols are concerned. For curiosity, go head to head with Souveran and the CG 5050 just to get an idea of which lsp has the most intensity. Remember, no pairing of any of the lsps. Each one has to perform without the help of an underlying lsp or sealant.

This should be fun!

I will definitely try the Souveran and the 5050. I was just reading about it in another thread. I don't plan on using a sealent underneath the wax, but what is a LSP? Is that the professional term for the glazes like 3M Imperial?

Just from the recent expierence from the Swissol Scuderia wax, give that a try for a high end wax that isnt gonna break the bank per say. Then get something like P21S or Pinnacle Souveran and compare the two waxes (Swissol vs other) then see which you like better IN YOUR EYES. What matters is how the paint looks in yours eyes with the wax. Scuderia had a very deep and clear look intially! Souveran has a little more wetness IMO. Both are great but I would go with the Scuderia.

Alright, so I will do a head to head using the CG 5050 and the Swissol Scuderia, unless you guys can argue a different product such as the Zymol Ital or Concours...? Aren't the Enzyme-based waxes of Zymol unique? Do they offer any advantage over Swissol (I know this has been expanded on in numerous threads, but just want a concise answer) ?

I read most of the thread you linked Chris. If Swissol Scuderia is the end result of all your searching for a wax in that price range, than I will trust you and try it out. A link to a good source would be much appreciated.

Sorry, one last thing. Scuderia or Concorso? The Concorso is only $80 more bucks, but what is Smaragd? It is listed under Swissol's Entry Kits at the same price as the Concorso kit.
