Girls got a Hunter Green 626 and I want to add some luster to it. Right now, i've been using #9 and #26, however I saw 3M has a product for dark cars. Would this be better in place of the #9?

SMR would take care of swirls better than #9 would. If swirls are the problem then SMR is your cure. #9 is great for working out swirls by hand or machine but 3M SMR is pretty much a machine product.
 
I've used the 3M SMR by hand just fine. I can't compare its use to the #9 though. Regardless, you should still work either product heavily into the paint and don't stop early.
