Product Review: Detailer's Pride Final Gloss Booster

JaredPointer

COME AT ME BRO
I got a chance to try the new Detailer’s Pride (DP) Final Gloss Booster yesterday. I know this may seem sort of an unfair review because I am not using it over the new DP sealant, but I figured it would be something to write about and at least get a feel for it compared to my other QD’s. The vehicle was washed yesterday afternoon with the DP Auto Bath Shampoo and has been exposed to the dust and such for 24 hours. Overall, the vehicle is still relatively clean, with a couple of bugs and a little dust/pollen. I am applying it over 1 coat of UPP.

Packaging: Packaged in a white 8 ounce bottle with a wrap-around type label. Nothing flashy, but the label states what the product is and contains directions and warnings and so forth. There is a nice little sprayer on this bottle – it reminds me of the stuff you spray in your throat when you have a sore throat/cold. Sprays very nicely for a sample bottle.

Price: $14.95 USD for 32 ounces of product. That’s $.46 USD per ounce. There’s a bulk size as well that’s $36.95 USD for 128 ounces of FGB. That makes it $.29 per ounce.

Directions: The directions state to shake well before using; spray a light mist on a panel, and immediately spread it over the area with one side of a towel. Turn the towel to reveal a dry side, and buff lightly.

Cautions, Hints, etc: Standard caution about being harmful if swallowed and avoiding contact with eyes. There’s also a quick intro to the product where it states that the Final Gloss Booster “bridges the gap between natural carnauba and synthetic polymers.” It’s a blend of the two, and is touted to remove fingerprints and light dust. Not sure how the fact that this has carnauba in it would affect the bonding/layering of a sealant. It can also be used on chrome and glass surfaces.

Product: The Final Gloss Booster has a very light yellowish tint to it when sprayed on the surface. It’s a normal liquid like most of the QD’s and waterless washes we talk about. It has a nice, faint aroma that I can’t quite place, but it reminds me of the Victoria Wax Quick Detailer spray for some reason.

Usage:
I took a section of the hood and sprayed the Final Gloss Booster on it. Trying to follow directions, I quickly spread it with one side of my Adam’s MF towel, and then flipped it to the dry side to give it a nice buff. The FGB worked very easily, and did remove the dust and some bug remains. I had to hit a couple of spots twice where there were some bugs. I wasn’t expecting this to be as good a cleaner as, say, Spray & Wipe, so I wasn’t disappointed. I finished the rest of the hood in the same fashion. What surprised me was the “renewed” slickness I felt after I was done. The UPP is about a week or so old. The UPP had lost a little of that slick feeling, but the FGB revived that slick feeling. I would put it right up there with Adam’s Detail Spray. Shine was also nice, as I feel it left a nice clean looking shine.

I tried to get a couple of pictures, but they didn’t really turn out like I had hoped and I don’t want to do the FGB a disservice by posting some pics and you guys wondering if I had used it or not. It wasn’t the product’s fault, but it was more of a user error on the camera. Please forgive me.

Overall, I liked the way the Final Gloss Booster worked. It left a very slick finish, was easy to use, did a decent job of cleaning, and was fun to use. I am a “QDaholic” in a way, and I can see myself finding a place on the shelf for this. A very good product. I hope to get to try it soon over the DP sealant. Thanks Dwayne & Autogeek.

As always, I will try to answer any questions if anyone has any. Feel free to ask away. :)

Got in 32 oz bottles of almost all the new detailers pride line and final gloss booster I now use on my sealed glass. It restored the ultra slickness to the glass and was a breeze to use

On the paint it was also easy to use but didn't restore the slickness as well as the Menzerna acrylic shield and four star UGE
I have eight different QD's and I rate this one 3rd overall

Can't wait to try it on chrome
