Product Results on Black by Hand

Black G35
I bought everything I read about that sounded good. Here is what I came up with. Started with Griots hand Polish and BOS wax. Polish was not very good and Wax was difficult to remove but left an excellent shine with no glare effect from the lights. Did VM followed by PWC and vice versa, found VM to do a decent job but PC would probably yield much better results. Did side by side tests of EX, EX-P and UPP. Found UPP to be easiest to use and was the darkest but EX was the shiniest with a slight edge to UPP for filling in swirl marks. Found best combo was EX followed by UPP. Put Liquid Souveran, Maguires yellow, P21S, Griots BOS and Natty's on my hood. Did not like results of Souveran or Maguires Yellow, did not leave that glassy smooth look. Natty's and P21S were very similar with More shine going to Natty's (bay a hair) but more glass like finish going to P21S. Both left a slight glare effect with my 300 watt spot. Griots left no glare effect, was very deep not not quite as shiny but again hard to work with. My current path of choice (which can change daily) SSR1(X2), VM(X3) and PWC(X2) by machine, EX(X3) and UPP (X3) by Hand. Topped with Nattys (X2).

CurtisS,

Your "current path of choice" is over kill. That is 15 applications of product.
Also you have some steps that make no sense. For example, VM x 3 followed by PWC x 2. You do realize PWC is going to remove the VM and render that step useless? Time to rethink your "current path of choice".

That is a lot of applications and a lot if steps. I don't think even I have used 3 coats of Vanilla Moose. I don't think that more than one layer of VM would offer any benefit other than more complete coverage.

Gotcha, does VM help to remove swirls that SSR1 may have put in or should SSR1 leave absolutly on lines at all. Can VM be layered or is it not that kind of product? When I used VM followed by PWC I got a deeper shine than by using either one by itself, maybe it was just the process that made it look that way.

I don't believe VM would layer well due to it's cleaning/polishing ability. I also don't really think SSR1 would be leaving swirls. It should be removing them. The abrasives in it break down as you work it. What are you using to apply and remove? If you are having swirls after using a swirl remover, I would check my applicators/MF to see what's up. Maybe you have something in them. Also, I would think that using PwC over VM would remove most of the VM. Just my opinion though.

I was used both the Maguires Yellow pad and Cotton pads but just by hand. It does remove the swirls by you can see much finer lines in the paint with the right light and agles of course. So far nobady can explain of has pictures of what the surface should look like after SSR1 and I do believe that since SSR1 is a light abrasive, there should be some sort of fine lines in the surface otherwise how can it get rid of the swirl marks in the first place.

It uses diminshing abrasives. Maybe someone more qualified can explain it, but I think in layman's terms that it means they "go away" or get to the point of not doing any cutting, but more of a polishing type step. I don't really understand what you are talking about when you say fine lines in the paint. Are you looking at the paint through some sort of magnifying glass? I have used SSR1 by hand and by machine and have never noticed fine lines. Maybe you could post a pic so we can see what you're talking about? :dunno
