Product for removing old wax/sealants

1. I wash with Dawn dishwashing soap (as recommended by Zaino) if I'm just removing past coats of wax (although that's rare for me, in that I usually use Zaino).

2. If I'm stripping off past coats of Zaino, I do a wipedown with a 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water.

I use P21S Total Auto Wash - think it is probably very similar to the Chemical guys since it is citrus based as well.

clay, mothers pre-wax cleaner, ipa. only because that is what i have otherwise i'd try a faster process.

Are you sure an IPA wipe down will remove Zaino? Pretty tough sealant. If you jewel your paint with Menz 85rd or 87mc with a blue pad you are sure to get a clean finish.

Good question.. I've always thought it would, but I don't actually remove Zaino layers that often. And, when I do, it's because I'm going to do some paint correction, which would generally remove the Zaino even if the IPA didn't.

I did some quick research, to confirm that I wasn't "misremembering" things on IPA removing Zaino. Based on prior threads here (searching for "Zaino" and "remove" in the title of the threads), it looks like the consensus is that IPA does remove Zaino layers.

a quick search and a post from this week:

also to add, if the LSP is old and you are going to clay & polish

why bother to add another step?

i found that thread already, if you read through the responses there were only two actual answers and I wanted to post to see if there were any additional recommendations people had. I was concerned about the Dishsoap thing too so I wanted to see if that still pulled responses.. and if anyone chimed in with any negative responses about that method.

This is the best advice. :bigups

This will lead to maximum shine if the paint needs any contaminant or oxidation removal in addition to the wax.

What is IPA? Alcohol?

IPA = Isopropyl Alcohol

Pinnacle Paint Cleansing Lotion

Wolfgang Paintwork Enhancer

These two products are supposed to clean too, but leave something behind that is supposed to make the car look good. Don't know how other products will bond to it but their own sealants are supposed to go right over it no problem.
