Hey guys been a long time since I posted computer has been down. Anyways I purchased a new vehicle (well new to me) its an 08 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara edition dark blue. Im using a tablet right now so cant post pictures but will post when I have access to a desktop. The vehicle looks to have been cared for by the previous owner so there is light swirl marks and a couple medium depth scratches but nothing major. My plan is to use m-101 to remove the scratches and swirl marks then finish that off with griots polish and sealing with opti-coat. My question is, is this going to achieve the best possible shine, reflection and protection. For the plastic top I am planning on ordering the cquarts plastic sealant. Please give me you opinions please! Thanks guys!

unless you have the m101, save yourself some money and go with Meguiar's Ultra Cut Compound M105, griots #3 polish is pretty decent with a long working time, but i like megs m205 better. opti-coat gives great bang for the buck. excellent durability and i really like the finish appearance. i still think blackfire's wet ice over fire combo leaves the best finish appearance of any. :)

Thanks for your reply. I already have the M-101 and the Griots #3 machine polish. Only question with opti-coat is I read online and it says you can apply 2 coats as long as they are right after each other. Does that mean opti-coat the hood and then re-opti-coat it before moving onto the next panel? I mean after the opti-coat has cured I have black ice i could apply or CG 50/50 wax? Still new to detailing so trying to figure out what products mix well with other products to obtain the maximum shine. I want my jeep to look like it just rolled off the lot freshly painted with 10 coats of clear coat :P. Anyways for reference, i have pictures but they are not pics of the damage done to the paint but overall jeep pics. Weather in Canada right now aint the greatest for taking pics as my car is covered in snow. Anyways here they are. As a side note, i will be detailing the white car as well, my brothers new car.

yep, i think opti coat will be a great choice for life in the great white north. of course, prep is everything so take your time during correction to get it just right. after cleaning and claying, your m101 and griot's #3 should easily take care of that. i've heard different opinions about layering though and personally don't think it's necessary if applied right the first time. the one time i did layer it, i coated the entire vehicle one panel at a time, and then re coated after i finished everything. it turned out nice, but not twice as nice. actual cure time is 24hrs and it's important to keep it out of the weather during that time. the finish it leaves is very nice as is, but you can layer wax over it later to add a little depth. i find the wax doesn't last as long because the finish is already pretty slick and usually use a spray wax after washing because it's easy. some say using opti seal works better to add some bling with better bonding.
so good luck, your ride is going to look great ! :bigups
p.s. todd's write up is excellent- http://www.autopiaforums.com/forums...om/39991-opti-coat-2-0-application-video.html

Thanks, I know its been a long time since I started this thread but have taken pics of the "damage" on my truck. Also have a pic of the new extractor I just got off a friend. A sniper andia 3-100, 3 stage vacuum 100psi extractor for an amazing deal of $250.00 only because they havent used it and dont want it in their closet any more. I'm planning on doing the whole interior including the seats, just hope the seats dont get water marks. Want to try and find a way to remove the center console to clean between the seats and the console because the previous owner was a slob inside. Again from what I can tell the previous owner waxed the outside (you will see a picture of that) but other than that he did nothing, lots of scratches!

Sniper Andia 3-100 3 stage carpet extractor

Kind of hard to see but there are muliple scratches that kind of swoop up towards the body, this is the back fender

the plastic top looks pretty good, but will be putting some protection on there

The passenger side of the jeep dont look too bad out of the sun :P

This looks like the paint has bubbled or something, not too sure what caused it but could have been anything

scratches

I dont know what caused this but this is just under the plastic roof, will have to remove the roof and try to get this out

Again just under the roof

Previous owner left some wax on the lip of the plastic roof where it meets the body, gonna have to get that off!

Major swirls

Scratch just below the flash on my phone

HATE SWIRLS

Anyways theres the pics, if anyone has any suggestions for me please feel free to add them. I have basic knowledge on what i am doing but wouldnt call myself a professional.
