Product abrasivness & use for deep scratches

This is kind of a two-part question, one on the abrasiveness of a couple different products, and one on what to use on some deep scratches.

The bed rails of my truck are scratched up pretty bad from the previous owner not taking any care whatsoever when removing and installing the cap. Some of them are very obviously not coming out (the ones that go down to primer, for instance...). What I want to do is to get them as good as can be done without having to pay a pro to do it.

Let me know if I'm thinking along the right lines here. What I figured I'd do is:

- Fill scratches that go to primer with touch-up paint. I have some good stuff that a body shop gave me when I had the roof repainted.

- Wetsand lightly with 2000 or 2500 grit Meguiar's paper.

- Hit it with some products on the PC.

That sound about right? Next question is the relative abrasiveness of the products I have available to me:

DACP
Poorboy's entire SSR line and Pro Polish
Menzerna IP

The abrasivness within the Poorboys line is fairly obvious. But where do the DACP and IP fit in? What's equivalent to what? :)

I have the Edge 2000 pad kit for the PC. What product/pad combinations would you suggest to tackle these deep scratches?

Your plan of attack sounds good . The Poorboys line up should be all you need to finish off your touch up work . I've been told DACP is like SSR2 . I can't speak for IP . As for pads and product , try yellow with 2.5 or 2 . Start with 2 but I have a feeling 2.5 or even 3 might be what you need to clean up those wet sanding marks. Wool would make quick work of it but the foam is fine , its probably going to take you a little longer . Final polish with a Blue pad and SSR1 and top off with what ever you like.
