problems with my pads

i have some problems while polishing with UDM on speed 6.all the polish is coming to the center of the pad,and when i stop the UDM after the polish became clear their is a big spot of polish on the car from the center of the pad.Also my pads have been reshaped (they are like volcano,lower in the middle and higher around).Sometimes also the pads are not spinning on speed 6 but they do on lower speeds. What am i doing wrong??

You aren't the only one with this problem. I have experienced it on a couple cutting pads (5.5" LC CCS) with the UDM. I have posted about it before but have never gotten a good answer. My only theory is that the pads are caving in due to the added heat from the UDM's power. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to try other pads with it but I would suggest spending the extra money and trying out the UDM DAS pads that David designed specifically for the machine and its added power. Though there are many rave reviews of LC's CCS pads, I have found some them to fall apart after just one car... Good luck!

yes i am doing this,work it about a minute at speed 3-4 and then at speed 6
 
The orbital motion of the UDM can generate quite a bit of heat in the backing plate (the change of direction creates friction in the velcro, and heat from the machine itself can migrate into the backing plate). The combo of heat and heavy polishing seems to degrade the center of the pads.



My solution was an extra backing plate and multiple pads. I peel back the pad every few panels to see if it's starting to hold heat, and swap plates if necessary to allow one to cool. I've found it's only really a problem when you're doing heavy correction, and working at speed 6 for long stretches of time.

Yes thats it. On speed 6, deep scratches,long time process,polish on backing plate and a melted in the center backing plate
