Problems regarding a business in Winter...

Hello and Good Day Everyone,

As you probably are aware I will be officially beginning my professional detail services, full time as of the beginning of next month. However whilst driving at work today, and struggling to keep that bloody truck under control, I came to the realisation that I was driving in the wet, and that I also realised that right now, my region is heading toward quite a wet winter. And so this could pose a problem I realised...

What problems have anyone come against when trying to build and run a detailing business during the winter months, and what would you do to prevent or try to cover for those months lost?

Cheers,

Ash

Detailing in the winter is a tough business to be in. Unless your willing to do dealership work at a fraction of what you would normally charge, things will be very slow. The small amount of detailing I do in winters is interiors and that doesn't pay the bills. I basically have come to realize that in the spring, summer, and fall time, I am willing to work 7 days a week, 10 hours a day to make the money, when the money is available, so I can get through the winters. I don't mind though. I love what I do and having winters off is ok with me.

I see. Actually, do you find that detailing specifically for business fleets does continue through the winter months, or do you find that drops off also? I simply ask because I have been offered a consideration by my church's largest company, some multi-milliondollar company with at least four cars to detail a month... I was just interested in what I could expect.
