Problem with 7336 PC

Hey guys - first post. I have a 7336 that I was given as a gift, originally from Griot's garage. I used it for maybe 10-12 details over the course of 2-3 years. It was always very smooth and easy to use. The last time I went to use it I was shocked. I don't know what changed, but all of a sudden now it is shaking like crazy when I turn it on - pad or no pad. I'm not sure what happened, or if there is something I can check or tighten. There appears to be some sort of yellow sticky oil on the side of the grey round thing (sorry, I don't know what the piece is called, lol) that resides between the black backplate and the motor/top of the machine. Can anyone point me in the right direction? If it's something easy I'd like to just do it here rather than send it back.. Thanks.. :usa
 
You might want to check and make sure that the counter weight has not become loose or fallen off completely. You'll have to take off the backing plate to get to it. If you can't find the exact problem, I'm pretty sure that Griots has a lifetime warranty on the PC.
 
im new to the pc also. i had to get some acid rain etching out with opt. hyper compound at speed 6 for about 5-6 hours. vibration was really heavy and my wrist was aching for a couple days later. is the vibration at 6 suppose to be that hard or was i working at it too long?
 
If you use your PC on 6 for 5 to 6 hours it is likely to cause some pretty heavy soreness in your hands and wrists, especially if you aren't used to it. I wear impact resistant gloves when using my PC to lessen the vibration. Also be sure you're using the right backing plate! I eventually learned that if I had to spend 6 hours with my PC to do the paint correction I wanted, I had better learn to use a rotary - now I have and I will never use a PC for heavy correction again (although I always use it to finish up!)
