Pro-Tec, a new QEW?

I went to the RV store yesterday to pick up another gallon of QEW, and while I was there, noticed something else, a 32pz bottle of something called Pro-Tec. The bottle looks just like the 32oz of QEW in size and shape. It said wash without rinsing, and I picked it up and looked at the back, it looked very similar to QEW. The directions and dilution ratios are the same, the viscosity looks the same. The only difference is the label, and the fact that the color of it is more of a green/blue color. I noticed a few more bubles when it got sloshed around. I got curious, and thought, is this maybe a new version of QEW (although a different manufacturer)? Could someone have a new product, or could they have looked at QEW and perhaps find a way to improve on it? I decided to spend the $15 and get it as well. I figure it will probably be at least as good as QEW, maybe better (how I don't know), maybe worse, but we will find out :D



I got home and looked on their website (Camo - www.camco.net) and could not really find mention of it, except I downloaded the brochure and on one of the last pages where it shows a display, it is there, and shows that they make it in at least a 32oz and a 1 gallon size.



I will try it out this week probably, and take some pics of it. I did a search on it here, but nothing came up, has anyone else heard of it? Regardless, I have a bottle and am going to give it a whirl and report back ;)

It is what had me wondering... I will give it a try this week, perhaps tomorrow :)
 
Tried out the Pro-Tec today, and to just make a long story short, it seems to be on par with QEW. I will agree with ebpcivicsi that it seems stronger than QEW, it seemed to handle the grimier parts better IMO. To me, it seemed to be a bit more forgiving than QEW, handling the dirtier parts with more ease, again, more than likely due to it being stronger. You would probably on some cars be able to do one wash instead of two like QEW due to it being stronger, but maybe not in some other cases. I like it, and will continue to use it and QEW both. I will probably use QEW most of the time, but use Pro-Tec on cars that are a bit more nasty.



Cliffs: Think of it as a Stronger QEW... but but not necessarily any better, or worse.
 
Hi all. Im new to the no rinse washing technique, but not being able to find a bottle of QEW locally, i opted to try out the pro-tec version. All of my local RV dealers had no QEW. I used the same methods as outlined for QEW and had no problems at all. It got rid of all the nasty road salt and grime from the lower parts of the car with ease. I dont know how qew could be much better than this stuff honestly. It cleaned my wheels with ease and was the easiest wheel cleaning i think ive ever experienced. The only issue i had was streaks when drying but that was my error most likely.



On a side note... the only reason i ever decided to try a no rinse product was because my apartment hasnt fixed its car wash bay in months. While washing my accord with the pro-tec, a guy in a newer style 325i asked me what in the world i was doing with no hose...yadda yadda. Long story short...he ended up paying 35 bucks for me to do his car too after seeing the results i had.



I give this stuff a :up until i get to try QEW.
 
I still have great results with NXT wash with the QEW-style wash method. :nixweiss

I wash my car with no rinsing every couple days here in WI, with no noticeable marring, even under my halogens.

Since NXT needs to be rinsed, I wonder if there is any residue left from the wash. You have a white car right? I wonder what would happen on a black car? I guess if you follow up with a QD it wouldn't matter anyway. :nixweiss
 
I sometimes follow with 4* UGE, but not always.

I will wash my mom's car with this method this week (blue/green) and see if there is any visible residue.

I find that the amount of soap suds is really a key in this method. If the soap is in the solution more than floating on top, there is less residue.

IOW, the more suds, the worse the residue. I always scoop off a lot of the suds before dipping the washing MF into the bucket.
