Pro response on tree sap removal?

I already did a search on tree sap removal. Lots of suggestions. Some I'm just not so sure of. I'd like a detailing pro to explain how he/she removes hardened tree sap -- like sap that has been on a hood for about a year and is in big, very hard blotches. None of this sap mist stuff, the real thing

My daughter's silverTacoma had hardened sap on the hood and roof. I washed the truck with hot water and car shampoo. Of course that had absolutely no effect. I ended up using 3M Adhesive Remover on a cotton terry rag and a very hi-tec removal instrument -- my thumbnail. I followed this with clay and finally Meguiars ScratchX. After applying Meguiars ColorX, the finish is again almost perfect. (It still needs some NXT. That's next weekend.)

There simply has to be a better method used by the "pros". I''m pretty sure that they do not use the "thumbnail process"on a regular basis.

I use a solvent (Tarminator) and plastic razor blades. They do the same thing as a fingernail, with more leverage, more working area and less pain. I don't know how I got through bad sap cars before them. They will sometimes leave light marring, so I usually chase 'em with FPII and a finessing pad, or if I got a little bit rough, Optimum Polish and a polishing pad.

Guys,

Thanks much. I'll have the plastic razor blades and solvent next time. By the way, where do I buy the blades.
