Prima Hydro Seal

I had some time this weekend and finally got around to trying Prima Hydro Seal. I used it twice and am still undecided on the product. I used it on my boat and on the front end of one of my daily drivers. Both surfaces were prepped prior to using. My daily driver was washed and prepped with Sonus Green Clay.

I am not sure if I am using it properly cause I am having a lot of problems getting the product to flash.

I am applying it with a damp MF applicator and am spritzing the surface with Hydro then applying per Nick's video. For me the finish doesn't seem to be any slicker than if I just used Hydro by itself...

I guess I need to keep experimenting. Any one else use Hydro Seal yet?

I haven't yet but I do want to give it a shot. From Nick's video I think the key to this is finding the sweet spot in tems of the applicator towel's dampness. But I can see where you are having trouble with it flashing....especially if the humidity is high where you are!

I am using the Hydro Seal and it's quite impressive on my black Fusion.
It flashes well for me; quickly if it's a warm day.
It's very important to shake the product thoroughly before and during use.

I removed BFWD and Midnight Sun wax with a claying and IPA wipedown, followed by a wash with CG Clear.

Application:

A damp MF towel worked well for me. I used the same side of the towel for the entire application.
I have used Hydro misting and water misting. The Hydro is my preferred misting agent since it's also a polymer like Hydro Seal. I like the method over the apply and wait 45 minutes, and avoid the rain for 12 hours methods that some sealants require.

Wash:

At the second wash, the finish beads nice and tight and washing is easy since the surface is slick. Sheet rinsing moves all but a few drops of water from the surface. After washing, I mist each panel with Hydro, followed by a towel.

I'm going to start the wife's black car later this week, polishing with Amigo and finishing with Hydro Seal.

I used Hydro seal this weekend on my RSX and i liked it.
First i did a good wash and dry.
Then IRON X on the rims and IRON CUT on the whole car. Clayed and rinsed again after clay. Dried again.
Then i applied water with a sprayer and used a small microfiber towel which was damp but not dripping with water and a shot of Hydroseal.Wiped in straight lines following the lines of the body. After each panel(which dried almost instantly) I dried with a clean plush microfiber towel.
After each panel I applied water to the next panel and added a small amount of product to my towel and knocked out the next panel until I was finished.
The end result is a smooth glossy finish with great water resistance.
It doesnt have the depth of a wax but its very reflective.
And seams to be very hydrophobic.
Ill be posting some pics soon
I found the ease of application a pleasure and the overall look of the product satisfying.
I give it a thumbs up!!:bigups

I have used Hydro seal 3 or 4 times now. I use Hydro as a spritz and apply a little thick ,I need to see the product for some reason, I have had minimal streaks.
I use ONR as well with no issues. For first application I used HD Uno then Prima Amigo then Hydro seal and finish is stunning. My car is a Velocity red mica Mazda speed6. I have used a lot of other products and quite a few mute the metallic. Until now Bannaa gloss was the best I have used for looks ( don't care about durability as i like detailing my car every week ) but the combo of Hydro/Hydro seal looks simply awesome ( I will try to post some pics) I also just tried Nero and Clarity, Prima is such a fantastic line of products. I recently tried WG fusion and SNH,didn't like the fusion but thought the SNH was great. Hydro seal seems to give a unique look not quite carnuba and not quite sealantty ( hope those are words)

This evening I did a wash and another layer of Hydro Seal, using water as a mist. I intentionally tried a MF applicator sponge. Forget it. Even when wrung out, it pushes too much water on the paint and prolongs the flashing of Hydro Seal.

I tossed it and opted for the recommended plush MF towel again. The depth of the folded towel must hold back any water, letting the application flash quicker. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the exact problem I was having. Gotta try the microfiber towel and see if I get better results.

I forgot to mention that bugs and sap washed off the front end and hood of car with car wash soap, Shampoo Plus. All it took was two passes of the wool mitt and the bugs and sap were gone.

Does Hydro Seal prevent tar, sap and bugs from sticking? Or, did I wash before the bugs and sap hardened?

The car sat in parking lot all day and it was 94.

Not an answer to any questions? Or maybe there are no answers, just experiences.

I guess Prima has lost favor around here since Blackfire moved in.

Nick, do you still visit here?
