Prepsol - removing tar

I've just got myself Dupont Prepsol the other day and after reading some posts saying that Prepsol can also be used to remove tar, I gave it a test today. Didn't find any directions on how to go about so tried the following method:



Clean down using Last Touch

Spray and let dwell for 30 secs

Wipe off with a piece of old mf



(Please disregard everything else other than the tar since my intention is just to test prepsol vs tar and those whitish spots are embeddedfine sand/dirt that I would clay afterwards during a proper detail)

I was overwhelmed by how much tar prepsol had dissolved and removed after the first application but unfortunately there's still some remnants of tar residue that I wasn't been able to wipe off in time before they dried up again (note the brownish stain in the last picture).



Please comment/suggest a proper/more appropriate method to improve.

I did something similar with 3M Adhesive remover on my moms car a few years back. She ran through something that tossed up a bunch of tar on her passenger front door. It probably took me 30 minutes to remove it all but I was really happy with the results.



I just used a cheapo yellow flannel cloth for mine.



You should just be able to use a little prepsol on your cleaning rag to get that stain up?

No...really...honestly....no sarcasm intended...it didn't occurred to me at all....I was thinking more in the line of doing another spray and wipe. I was cranking my head and didn't even think of a simple wipe could have done the trick.
 
I tried WD-40 for the 1st time on my wife's white Vette and was pleased how easy it came off. Would Prepsol damage the paint if used too frequently?
 
This is what I found in the tecnical manual for presol:



Substrates

Unsanded substrates

OEM finishes

Cured, repainted surfaces

Note: Do not use on unprimed plastic or fiberglass substrates due to possible static buildup, which may cause a flash fire



So I'd suppose it's safe on paintwork, if used properly.
