Bringing my 97 Maxima up to college and want to make sure its ready for the snow and the fact that I won't have a driveway to wash it every couple of days. I already did the Meguiars deep crystal 3 step process and was wondering how long the wax usually lasts cause I probably won't be able to wax it again till Thanksgiving or possibly even Christmas time. :scared Should I use a longer lasting wax on top of the Meguiars wax to make sure its protected?

If you want to go with Meg's go with their sealant ( last longer than wax) and then top with wax ( added protection)

The three step process won't last. Start over!
In my opinion, use AIO followed by a few coats of SG and then top off with Collinite 476 Heavy Duty Detergent Proof wax (or Collinite Heavy Duty Insulator wax). If you have scratches / swirls, remove those first.
If you don't have access to the AIO and SG then DEFINITELY top off the 3 system with one of the the Collinites. I swear my life on it for it's longevity.
I gurantee you it will last until X-Mas!

Here's another vote for the Collinite. DON'T spend what little time you still have redoing the car, just put on a coat of Collinite 476 (or more than one coat if you can).
At school, if you have to resort to "touchless" car washes (or worse
), at least spray the car with a QD (one that doesn't get weird if it mixes with water) before you dry it off.

I don't know if you're in the Jersey area but here's where I saw in stores:
PAL Automotive in Piscataway and
Ocean Auto Supply in Pt. Pleasant Beach ( they had a big Collinite sign in the window but none to be found inside, maybe they have now?)

I think the shine will be the least of your concerns. On my college campus the problem is either your car not being there when returning (stolen), keyed (accidentally or intentionally), or hit by someone who does not know how to parallel park. (I mean come on people, you are in college and don't know how to parallel park )
Also, the more detailed your car is the more likely it is to be vandalized. The car I take to school is not washed all that much, mabey once or twice a semester. (Besides, you will have better things to do than detailing )

Yea dealing with kids on campus is kind of annoying. The worst I have had happen is my car got spit on (just after detailing it) in the school surface parking lot. Now I have my own apartment with private garage parking (monitored with video cameras) so I do not have any issues with worrying about someone wrecking my car's finish.
I haven't tried Collonite, but certainly trust the opinions on this board. However, for winter durability and protection, I have found nothing better than RainX Ultra Paste Wax--availble at your local AutoZone. It's certainly not something I'd use in the summer or when I was looking for Autopian shine, but it has great durability and is an excellent--and readily availble--winter protectant.
