Preparation of my new BMW 330i E92

Hi everyone



This little topic to illustrate the result of the preparation of my new Bimmer daily drive (a 330i in E92 coupé form, bluewater colour). When I received the car I first just washed it with Chemical Guys Strong Wash, did the rims with Valetpro Bilberry Safe Wheel Cleaner and the windows with Autoglym Fast Glass. Now, four weeks and 1800 km later, I reserved the Sunday to better prepare it.



Here is what I did in approximatively 7 hours:



Exterior

First prewash (bugs, lower bodywork) --> Bilt-Hamber Surfex HD 1:20, Nilfisk Alto pressure washer

Second prewash --> Valetpro Orange Pre-Wash 1:10, Nilfisk Alto

Rims --> Valetpro Bilberry Safe Wheel Cleaner 1:5, EZ Detail California Brush, Swissvax brush, Nilfisk Alto

Wash --> Bilt-Hamber auto-wash, Sonüs Professional Bucket & Grit Guard, Chemical Guys "The Bone" microfibre sponge, Nilfisk Alto

Drying (bodywork) --> Autoglym Flexi Water Blade, 2 Chemical Guys Miracle Dryers

Drying (rims) --> 4 Dodo Juice Mint Merkin Waffle Weave microfibres

Tyres --> ValetPro Protectant 1:1, disposable sponge

Claying --> Meguiar's White Clay, Optimum No Rinse 1:50, 2 Sonüs Der Wunder Drying Towels

Polish --> Klasse AIO, Autoglym Perfect Palm applicator, Performance Motorcare buffing microfibre

Sealant --> Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection, Autoglym Perfect Palm applicator, Performance Motorcare buffing microfibre



Interior

Dusting --> Dyson DC-16

Fabric & dashboard --> Autoglym Interior Shampoo, 2 Dodo Juice Mr Pink microfibre mitts

Leather --> ColourLock Light Cleaner, ColourLock Leather Sealant, 2 dedicated applicators

Windows polish --> Einszett Glass Polish, yellow foam applicator, 1 Unger MF4000 microfibre

Windows finish --> Autoglym Fast Glass, 3 Unger Glass microfibres

It looks great. It reminds of something I would do detail wise.



330? I thought there was only a 328, 335 and 335d? I suppose BMW has more models in other nations. Is there a 3.0 in it?

There's a 3.0 in both the 328i and the 335i - maybe they're just accurately labeling it across the pond.

Here, across the pond we have a 3,0L in 325(220hp), 330(270hp) and 335 (twin turbo 305hp).. I guess the 325 and 335 are pretty much the the same as the 328 and 335..

That's in north america. 328i is 230p/200lb ft torque alu/mag block 3.0l inline 6.



335i is 3l inline 6, all alu block twin turbo, 300hp/300lbft torque.



335d is inline 6 all alu block, 265hp/425tq.



Outside North America you can get a 318, 320, 325 (also available in Canada), 330i, also 318d, 320d, 325d, 330d.



2009/2010 330i's outside NA are 270hp/236lf/ft tq.



On topic - I really like the new BMW silver, I think your car looks excellent, and I love the 230 style wheels!

You forgot the 335i is available here in Europe also.. and I think Canada gets a 323i which has a 200hp 2,5L 6.

The 325 in Europe is 3,0L 220hp/200lbft, pretty close to the 328..

BMW always makes this confusing, and the latest 3 series is the worse, so many versions of the same engine.

Ya sorry. I should have said 335i/d is available outside NA too, I was just listing the ones that we don't get in NA. Yes, Canada does get the 323i now, but no more 325i as of 2007.

I fell in love with the engine; yes here in Europe you can buy the N52B30 engine, a 3.0 litre, naturally aspired straight 6 with 272 bhp and a 0-60 in just 6.0 seconds



The wheels are very easy to detail and are the only standard ones available for the E92 coupés with a dedicated, better grade of aluminium and a special glossy coating. They are extremely easy to clean, brake dust seems unable to stick even after 2000 kilometers. Expensive but worth it.



The bluewater color is quite rare I thing. I like the effect of nice sealants (Wolfgang, Zaino, Blackfire) on them. Oh, and a dumb neighbour told me a few days ago that (quote) it is a "gay" color. How lame...

They tossed the North American 325i/330i after one year in the e90, 2006 (this isn't including e46s). In 2007 they changed the sedan to 328/335 and the coupe came out as 328/335, there was never a 330i e92 available in NA.

Those wheels cost about 1800€ here so they better be good I really like them though.
