Prefered Pads' Size for PC 7336SP?

What is the prefered backing plate, polishing pad's Size for PC 7336SP? :confused:

should it be choice a or b ?

a) Backing Plate: 5"
polishing pad: 6"

b) Backing Plate: 6"
Polishing pad: 7.5"

I would say go with either of the following combinations below

Backing Plate: 5" with polishing pad: 6" or 6 1/2"
Backing Plate: 6" Polishing pad: 6 1/2" or 7 1/2"


*Edit*...yes, I have to agree the 5" backing plate also works well with 6 1/2" pads.

Like most detailing decisions, it doesn't seem to be something that is carved in stone. I think either will work fine.
The 5" Velcro backing plate with 6.5" pads has worked for me.
AWD330 uses a 6" backing plate with 7.5" pads with good results.

Thanks CharlesW & PakShak for clearing that up for me. Because I'm Haven't got any experience on using PC before, that's why I don't know which size is good for the begginner like me. personally, I like the idea to have 6" backing plate and 7.5 polishing pad.

The 6" backing lets you use 6.5" and 7.5" pads. I like the 6.5 for polish and 7.5 w/sealants. There is a big enough diff between the two pads. Get the 6" backing plate you will have more options
 
One other thing.
If you haven't already purchased a backing plate and pads, the new Edge system looks like it is worth considering. About the same total investment, no velcro to come off, no backing plate to have the hook portion wear out.

No, I'm not on Edge's payroll. I have a Meg's 5" plate and a whole bunch of Meg's 6.5" pads or I would be trying the edge system myself.

The backing plates have Velco bonded to the plate, as do the pads, that is what makes the pad stck to the backing plate. Mine has not failed but in theory the velco could separate from the pad.

The Velcro attaching system of pads and backing plate consists of a backing plate with the hook portion of the velcro system fastened on it. The pads have the other portion of the Velcro system glued to them.
Some people have had the velcro that is glued to the pad come loose. Others have commented on the hook part of the backing plate no longer grabbing the pad and the pad not staying attached to the backing plate.
Neither of these problems has happened to me, but it is not too uncommon. It really seems to be related to washing the pads, but I don't know that for sure.
It just seemed like the Edge system would eliminate any possibility of the problem happening.

Thanks Charles & roadman for your clear explanation. I learn new good info everyday.

Since Edge 2000 Foam pads are so new, I guess there are not many people have tried these new pads. Hence, we don't know how good these new pads & system are. Time will tell.
