Pre wax cleaner before polishing?

Hey guys,

Do I need to use a pre wax cleaner before using a swirl remover polish? Or will the polish clean the paint?

Also, when I am finishing with the polish, should I use some kind of cleaner

before a LSP?......Here are the steps I was thinking on doing

wash

clay

mothers pre-wax cleaner (should I do this?)

Sonus#2 swirl remover

Sonus#3 final polish

should I clean the paint again before LSP?

Mothers FX synwax

These steps are going on a silver Mazda mini van, and this is my first time

ever doing a detail....I also have the UDM and several sonus and lake country

pads. Any help would be most appreciated....:thx

PS...:wavey....I did search with no luck on this particular question.

The Mother's pre-wax cleaner is a combination of solvents/surfactants and light polishing agents. The Mothers FX Synwax itself contains some light cleaning agents as well (much lighter than the pre-wax cleaner).

I'd just use the PWC on a white pad, and then go directly to the Synwax, unless you feel the car's surface needs to be explictly polished.

OR if you need more polishing, do a couple straight IPA wipedowns to get rid of all the oils in the polish before LSP. A lot of pro's do it on here and I do now too!

OK...cool, Thanks guys. I got one more question, if I decide to use the polish

(swirl remover) do I need to use the pre-wax cleaner before? Or will it be fine

to go straight from clay to polish?

go from clay to polish, then the pre-wax cleaner, then the wax

I don't think the PWC will do anything that your polishing will not take care of..I would skip it

That is what I use to do until I tried Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion. It really added gloss and depth to the paint before waxing. I also tried a more expensive Swissvax Cleaner Fluid and liked the PPCL better.

Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion would fall under my defination of a "Glaze"

but Mothers Pre Wax cleaner is a combo of chemical cleaners and light polishes

IMO not the same type of product

I recommend:

wash

clay

Sonus#2 swirl remover (if you need it)

Sonus#3 final polish

IPA 50/50 wipedown

Mothers FX synwax

PPCL does have oils and fillers, but unlike a glaze it will clean any old waxes.

true but the added "gloss & depth" you get from it come from those oils

and the product the OP has does not have those oils so

I still do not see the point in using the Mothers PWC after polishing

I agree Jim, just do an IPA wipe down and wax/seal.
