What I have to work with is

Megs Unigrit 1200 sandpaper

Griots DA with M105 and M205 LC White, Orange, and surbuf pads

Should I just sand it lightly with the 1200 sandpaper then hit it with m105?

Or can I just polish like normal with M105 and that will do the trick?

Well depending on the condition of the damage, you would chose and go from there. If the headlight's pretty bad then I would start with the sanding, then 105 etc. I'f there's just a slight hazing and no real difference in texture that I can feel, I go straight to the polish and skip the sanding.

If you are going to sand it with 1200 grit, I would suggest sanding again with something like 2000 grit before polishing, the 1200 grit scratches will be much harder to remove than the 2000 grit. If you can post a picture of the headlights it will be easier for me to suggest a procedure depending on their condition. What usually works if they're not too bad is sanding with 1000 grit, then 2000 grit, or even 3000 grit if you have some and then polish with M105. Always apply a good quality sealant when you are done.

Good info in this thread. I need to clean up my headlights since when I run my hand over them I can feel all sorts of bumps EVERYWHERE
