What type do you suggest? hood, door, trunk? Look for a darker color porbally? How much should I expect to pay?

obviously black panels, also different makes as well. Paints are very different. Price: $0.00 - you should never have to pay for it. Find another shop if they want money.

get as many different types of panel as you can. Practice makes perfect.

YOU SHOULD PAY NOTHING!

Look mainly for darker colors, get a few ligher ones as well.

I hit all of the local body shops and hit them up for old fenders and such that they are tossing out. I make sure there is at LEAST a 1.5 x 1.5 foot area to work on. Nothing too beat up. If half is smashed and the other half is good, pick it up.

Auto body shops. Car hoods are usually flat enough to not move around and big enough to try different things on.

Most body shops keep all their sheetmetal for scrap weight. Try to ask to "borrow" instead of "have" one from them. Good luck....

What is your goal? You want to practice to do this professionally or for your own car. If it's for your own car, try to find a color and make/model that is similar to your own car. This will allow you to understand how the polishes and machine will behave on your own car.

A black hood is the best to practice on because it will show all mistakes. However, I still think something close to your own car is the best choice.

Personally i have never had a problem with them. Around here they give them away. I started with scrap 14 or 15 years ago and asked last month for another, with no problem. I have got to know them personally, though.

You might even drum up some business by asking.

I would stick with dark colors, better feedback.
