Power Lock durability

Hey fellow detailers,

I know that this question has been asked over and over, but I wasn't able to find a clear answer to this.

Since Power Lock was released 3 months ago, has anybody observed a lack of durability?

Thanks,

Yan

Cant help you on this product. Sorry.

Thank you for the useless post.:rofl

It lasted about a month for me, hood was prepped with a few IPA wipe downs. Two coats applied.

Yes the shine is good.

Maybe not fair, but I'm finding the recent fallout issues (between the pollen tsunami, and now the Quebec fires) have killed it (no sheeting, no beading) in about 3 weeks on the horizontal surfaces(hood, trunk, roof).

So it is the consensus? 3 to 4 weeks? This would make it about as durable as the least durable non synthetic wax (like Souveran)? :nervous2: :grrr

1 month and going strong 1 coat and 5 washes with rain and pollen tsunami. still beading very nice all over. On 08 Mercedes ML350

Not sure why some people have terrble durability, 5 weeks so far on a DD (Blue RX350- Aunts) and still feels slick during and after a wash! On my own cars, well lets just say I can never do durability tests, I rewax/ try something new every 2 weeks.

I find the paint surface is no longer slippery after 2 months, even though the shine still there. Not sure if the sealant is still there since I start seeing some scratch mark reappear. However, I suspect the previous coat did not cure properly, since this products need long time to cure.

That is why, yesterday I wash the car and apply another coat, and bake it under sun for few hours. This morning it gives shiny and slippery feels and hopefully it last longer.

Have you guys done any reading on FK1000? I bought it recently due to all the recommendations on this forum. A person named Tdekany got what looked to be a year out of 1000p

Of course it's not as slippery as when first applied. What in the world are you expecting?! And no sealant/wax is going to protect your paint against scratches.

Well, I seldom put my car on the open car park, and in the last 2 months I seldom drive the car. In the past, I use FMJ+AHSG and the result is quite good (I only do 5 polishing in 4.5 years).

Furthermore the scratch mark is not new but reappear after correction in the last polishing, so it can be some filler the detailer used fall-off.

So I find this product is not bad, but I am still not convinced that I has harnessed it full potential, due to the last application was done when the weather was raining outside so it is very humid. This time, I do it under sunny condition, and baked for few hours that hopefully fully cure the sealant and make it last longer.
