this is what i put:
hey. thanks for bringing this to my attention. i totally understand your point and i know its not out to bash me. of all the boards i post on this is the only one asking me to pay. i see how it is advertising esp with my sig saying 'PM me for prices'. i run my own photography business and i understand how i may be getting business from other local detailers (which in no way is my intention). ive been detailing on the side for the past 7 years and do it more as hobby since my schedule doesnt allow for full details.
if you have access to my pms, you can see that i write in each reply that i dont charge to make money, only enough to cover materials i use on the car. it just helps with the $40 wheel cleaner, $250 wax, $25 drying towel i put on their cars etc. i also make use of the whole day, sometimes two so i can take my time on their car since i dont charge by the hour. i schedule the details on my days off so i def dont try to make a detail as a source of income.
my ultimate goal i would say to have on here as well as the other forums im on, are to provide help, educate car owners of the proper maintenance for vehicles. if they want to start fresh, they can come by for a detail so i can get it looking good again and from then on, they can keep it looking new. i post on here hoping to show that paint can be saved and for those jobs that need repaint, touchups etc. i point them shops that are sponsors on here like and so and so.
im hosting a detailing bbq/meet/detail demo for a local BMWCCA chapter this saturday and im providing all the materials. for the 8 or so signed up, they mentioned to donate but im not there to make a profit, just to properly educate and show them first hand what it takes, rather than pictures online. and im demoing on cars the two people that showed interest first.
sorry the writeup. just let me know what my options are as being a sponsor (cost benefits) or just keeping my regular status as member (whether its deleting my sig or not posting anymore) i would like to be the person to go to for detailing FAQs on here like "......" is the fender rolling guy to go to. either just let me know."
i can either change my wording like you said jake or just become a site sponsor. i should be fine either way. but id hate to become a sponsor and amount all the pms. im so busy with work now that im only able to schedule once a week or even one car every two weeks. i still need to detail 5 cars including an NSX for a car show this saturday. i work 60+ hrs a week with photography. and as much i love detailing, id hate to turn them down or tell them to wait another month or even our worse yet, have them go do another detailer and have them do a bad job. *bc i have yet to find one here in this area
