Porter cable deal?

So, in my obsessed search for the best deal on a P.C. I've hit rock bottom.

Its hard to find a deal to top the deal at coastal tool but i tried.

I checked out amazon.com and they offer the 7424 for 119.99 but also offer a $30 discount on your first purchase on a newly opened credit card. This set up doesnt come with the backing plate and added the total comes out to be 107.99 including FREE SHIPPING.

my concern is the lack of the 6" counter weight and trying to purchase one separately. I also heard rumors before about amazons stuff being refurbished.

Dont know if its worth saving the 20$, I hate chasing the almighty dollar sometimes

Ordered mine thru amazon under a different deal, with no problems. Actually got a package with the sander accesories and a case. I'm using the 5" backing plate and counterweight with 6-6.5" pads with no problems. You can buy the 6" counterweight from CMA if you are buying pads or other stuff from them. Otherwise, the freight charge for the weight alone would be crazy.

Don't remember the model #, but it is the 5" sander version with the case and dust collection hood and hose. At that time there was $25 off of a $200 tool order and free shipping. Price wise, what you have sounds better anyway. Thought I might want to use it as a sander someday, and the 5" backing plate gives some "cushion" with the smaller (6") pads. Also 5" sanding disks seem to be easier to find.

When you get a pad kit, itll come with its own velcro backing plate so you wont have any problems there. Also you can buy the 6" counterweight seperately if you want.

Yes, that's the one. I'm using the 5" backing plate and the 5" weight. Does't seem to be vibration problem, but I don't have anything to compare to. I like the extra room using 6" pads.

FNG and Macgirl

They both seem like really good deals, but the one from amazon still seems like you get a little more.

7335sp sander

5" backing plate

Case

Sanding attachments

additional 6" backing plate 17.99 (same as coastals)

Free shipping

Total 120.99

I hate to repeat a question but do you guys ever have a need for the 5" backing plate. I read somewhere the vibration is less with a 5" backing plate, 6"counterweight and 6.5 pads

Sorry to keep hassling everyone. Im just a newbee with this trying to cover all my bases.

Thanks again, you guys have been extremely helpful.

Just to confirm Steve

Is the 5" plate yours came with the hook and loop plate.

does the porter sander from lows the same thing u get on this website??? just a different number cause its a sander? can u put the pads on it?

not exactly, This sander is model 97335 but mechanically it is exactly the same, the only difference is the 5" backing plate and counterweight.

Plus you get all the sanding equiptment and a case which I kind of wanted even though you can buy a tool box from lowes.

There is a catch however, you get a $30 discount when you open an amazon.com credit card which I was going to anyways.

You might be better off going to www.coastaltools.com for the 7224, Its also an awesome deal.

Hey, this is a bit off the subject, but I seem to be getting a lot of vibration from my PC 7424 with 6.5" pads.

Should I be looking at getting a 6" counterweight??

I have a 7336 from Lowes, and use a 5" 3M Hook-It plate with 6.5" Meg's pads...very little vibration...works very well.

One thing about ordering from Amazon. A friend of mine has ordered a few things from them (a 7424 and vacuum cleaner being two) and these items were shipped UPS in the original boxes. No other boxing or padding. When you see the box the 7336 comes in from PC, you can see whu UPS should not be handling this without some other sort of packaging to protect it.

I understand that but the sander I was going to order was the 97335 with comes with a hard case.

I figured its in a fairly sturdy Pc box and then and even more sturdy hard plastic case. I just am not sure if I should order the 97355 or the 97336.

I assume either way I have to order a backing plate for either one because the one that comes with is an adhesive for sanding paper.

Is this assumption correct?
