The Panamera is the first Porsche ever to venture into the four-door world for the famous German sports car maker. Purists were worried that Porsche has diluted their fantastic reputation as a premier sports car manufacturer. Nobody would have thought that a four-door Porsche would ever make sense. Well, after having a day with the vehicle, washing, claying, polishing, and waxing it's every curve,
I'm pleased to say that Porsche has definitely create a Porsche...a sports car that screams quality at every corner, over engineering everywhere you look. Compared to other large luxury saloons, the Panamera truly surprised me when I first peaked inside...the pictures don't do justice but the quality of materials are simply impeccable and beautifully made. Despite being porky on the weighing scales, this Turbo model is still extremely quick on it's feet, managing a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds, and showing strong acceleration beyond that.
What left an impression on me was not the querky looks (I'm still not a fan of the rear 3/4's), but rather the very fine details one could only notice after long stares at the vehicle...the brakes are serious business....they seem so strong, so capable...the wheels on this Turbo...despite looking small are actually 19 inches in size! The rear seats recline, there is ample trunk space, and funny enough, the key fob is in the shape of the car....I forgot to take a picture of this but it's a nifty little item...and it's painted to match the car!
When we pulled the vehicle inside (after clay barring in below-freezing weather), I immediately noticed hints of Carrera GT in the design of the front end. And without the front license plate the face of this beast is actually quite tasteful.
Nevertheless, it was a pleasure to prepare this brand new vehicle properly. The owner specifically requested that the dealership not wash the car (no swirls were on the car thank-goodness). The day after the owner took delivery of the car, we were able to wash, clay bar, poliseal, and wax the vehicle with Collinite 476S for protection, and then we took a few pictures, as seen below. From a detailing perspective, I feel that the rear wing will be the toughest portion to maintain...it is very flimsy and is made of very soft dark plastic which is very easy to swirl. Next time we look forward to adding some richer carnuba waxes for an even deeper shine. Thank-you for looking!
