Pop-up tent canopies

Hey guys is $55 or so after tax a good price for a 10x10 pop-up canopy? I've seen cheaper quality ones that are like thin plastic for $15, but the pop-up type looks like it would definatley be worth the extra money. Also, is 10x10 good enough or should I look for a 10x12?

I found some decent looking 10x10's $30-40 a few months ago, but that was before I had moble detailing plans and they're long gone

edit: My dad was telling me that I wasn't going to be allowed to set up the tent in a few of the places I wanted to. For example, one of my clients owns a shop at the mall and he would want his car detailed while he's at work. I thought I could detail it in the back of the parking lot since there's hundreds of open spaces, but my dad says that he doesn't think so because the tent would be like setting up a structure on private property. (he doesn't really know about this kind of stuff, but it got me wondering if I can do what I want to do) Any ideas??

I would highly suggest a 12x12 at a minimum. As the sun gets lower later in the yr, you'll be seaking additional shade! This is my 12x12 mid summer, and as you can see, you still need to jockey the car around to provide full shade......Get a name brand also, i got this E-Z up brand for $80.00 at Kmart several months ago.....

Patrick is right, I would definately get the 12x12. I have a 10x10 and believe me the additional square footage will make a world of difference. Although the 10x20 would be ideal, but I'm mobile and the set up would take too much time by myself.

I agree. I have a 10x10 EZ-up that I purchased at Sam's Club for $99. The extra 4 square feet (of the 12x12) would make a good bit of difference. 10X20 would indeed be ideal but would have no where near the quick set-up time (with one person) of my 10x10.

foris2 where in Marietta are you?? I pass other mobile guys every now and again and always "honk" hello!! :xyxthumbs

1 Clean WS6 - I live on Roswell Rd, about 1 mile east of the Big Chicken. I'm sure I have probably honked at you before also. My detail vehicle is a '89 Chevy S10 Long Bed P/U. That canopy really helps doesn't it?

EZ Up Speed Shelter

They are your best source for canopies and shelters.

I would say if all else fails, order online, those prices are way steep Dean! Try to find it at a local wallymart, kmart, something like that !!

Yep, they are steep in price. It's due to the specific product "Speed Shelter" as opposed to the ones they sell at Wall-Mart/Target/Home Depot etc.

Speed shelter has heavier canopy, better frame. Is it worth it?? Well, depends on how much you use it. If only several times then hell no. If you're like me putting it up and taking it down often, then yes. Frame is well built, coated and easy to put up.

For those just needing one for that once in awhile work, then Wall-Mart etc is your best bet.

Deanski

I am over that way (about a mile or two north of the Big Chicken) on 41 at least once a week. I have several weekly regulars off of Industrial Park Drive. I'm sure we've passed each other. My truck is a silver Ford Lightning pulling a silver trailer. That canopy has saved my arse more than once...not so much as helping the sun stay off the car...but rather keeping the sun off ME!!!

Maybe we can hook up and talk detailing one day?

No doubt, I have definately honked at you before. By the way I love your rig and set-up. That canopy really does help and that's what I mainly use it for is to keep the sun off of me. We will definately have to hook up one day when you're in the area and we can talk shop. I'm taking the rest of the day off today, got to shower and go downtown to see what the Falcons are going to do tonight.

Like Deanski said. Get the Speed Shelter. I have it for my show car and I love it. Fits my car perfectly. Its much bigger than the standard EZUP's.
