Poorboy’s Word Typhoon Microfiber Detergent - Review

First of all, big thanks to Steve and Dwayne from Poorboy’s for including me in the Typhoon tester group. :bigups

I finally had a chance to test the product out today, washing an assortment of 33 microfiber towels (low, med, and high piles), 3 wash mitts, and even a few of the superfine microfiber’s I use for cleaning my eye glasses.

Because my wash load fell into the 26-50 towel range, I used all 4 oz of product. As others have mentioned, the detergent has a typical “fresh” scent or as Donbeezy said “Scent reminds me of cologne called Cool Water” - which I have to 100% agree with.

Now the selection of towels I was washing were not overly contaminated, were used for light duty tasks such as WW, glass cleaning, and 2 bucket post foam & pressure wash. Here’s a shot of the wash in action ½ the washing process:

As others have shown, Typhoon does a great job at removing stains and restoring our precious microfiber towels. My experience was no different.

However - and this is a BIG however - the scent gave me an enormous headache. While the wash was underway, I was sitting in the next room working and started noticing a headache coming on shortly after starting the machine. Opening the windows helped but the headache didn’t fully start to subside until after the wash was done. Granted I have a sensitive nose, and the other reviewers didn’t seem to be bothered as I did by the odor, but my suggestion would be to remove the scent altogether.

I would be happy to try out any odorless version and let you know it does/doesn’t cause another headache ;)

Again, thanks for the opportunity fellas! I hope my feedback was helpful.

Thanks for the review! Ill have to try some if its out by the time my gallon of towel kleen runs out

Yeah man!

I still used 2oz even though I had 30ish towels. I normally use 2oz for half a load and 4oz full loads

Same here, but I wanted to stay true to Typhoons directions and report back on my experience. I wonder if I would have gotten that headache if I had only used 2oz?

Great write-up!

Thank you, Sir!

Sorry about the headache and thank you fro the review ... :bigups

Our directions are just suggestions .. we encourage to test the limits of the products .. maybe 2 oz would still do the work on 50 towels .. I have not tried yet, but since 4oz did such a great job on my towels, maybe less can do the same .. fragrance is not a given for final product, but since its a water based fragrance it was worth a shot .. not sure what it smells like without.. or we can put in less of that too ... that again is why everyones reviews are so important to us :)

with 2oz I barely had a scent in the towel. I had to hold the towel to my nose to smell it

I did not notice any scent inside the house with the washer running.

Maybe offer two versions, scented and non-scented.

I personally would buy just for scent, but some are sensitive. So maybe worth considering.
