Poorboys EX - paint removal

I was giving my car a 'quick detail' with my (mainly) Poorboys stuff and while I had the Spray and Wipe out, I decided to give the insides of the hood and trunk a quick wipe. But I noticed that there was quite alot of paint removal... with almost no pressure of the microfibre. I realise that these areas are not clearcoated, but should I really be getting ANY paint removal with this product? If so, surely the product could be degrading the EX on the rest of the car? Anyone else experienced this?

I have emailed Poorboys a few days ago, but haven't heard back yet, so I thought I'd open it up here just to see if this is normal.

For the record, I love the Poorboys range so far on the rest of the car!

The cleaning that you see IMO comes from carrier solvents in the EX. In other words the solvents that are there in order to make the carnauba spreadable.

IMO, EX has about the same cleaning properties as NXT.

Thanks for the feedback...Sounds reasonable, but does the 'Spray & Wipe', which was the only product I'd used on the inside of the hood and trunk, have any solvents of this sort is strength in it? I guess it must have.

Doesn't that make it a bit too 'powerful' for a quick detailing spray?

After all, there's the QD+ that does have carnauba in the mix, and is designed to go follow the Spray & Wipe if you want to top-up the carnauba.

Just a thought-has your car been re-painted? Could be overspray that hadn't bonded very well.

I haven't had any paint come off my car ever while using S+W.

Also, as far as I know, S+W is water based, so it shouldn't have any carrier solvents like pd based sealants/waxes might have

No respray... I've had the car from new and she's now 14 months old. I guess they're not so careful about doing a 'proper' job on the inside of the hood... and certainly no clear coat. It's aluminium - I don't know if it's harder to paint aluminium?

(Just another newbie screwup)

:o now corrected :o

Errr, it's easy to get confused when you're talking with a jerk. Sorry folks, the message is correct, but the original subject line was incorrect... it was the Spray and Wipe that I'm talking about.

S&W will probably only remove very oxidized paint just like car wash soap and water will. You will need to properly polish to remove the oxidation then wax.
