Pontiac Lemans EXTREME Wetsand

This dead paint job came to use looking for a new life. This one owner Lemans was determined to stay away from the body shop. As you can see, it was severely sun damaged. I wetsanded the car using 1500 grit, and polished using Purple Foamed Wool pad with PG, orange CCS pad with SIP and 85rd with a white pad. Single stage paint of course.

Here are a few after pics. As you can see there is a slight increase in gloss. Collinite 915 was used for LSP.

Nice turn around, I really enjoy doing older cars that are in bad shape, reminds me of the good old days with polishing bonnets piled up in all different colors.:)

Thanks, it was a pretty fun one. The paint looked pretty darn good when it was done, but some spots were too weather damaged to be repaired by wetsanding. I took A LOT of paint measurements on this car, being cautious to not burn through anything.

It's mostly original paint, but the car has a few spot repairs around. Not too uncommon for a car that's 40 years old.

only a slight different in gloss huh? :lol wow thats a turnaround man. Looks great John. Was the whole thing sanded? lots of gloss for that color!! :xyxthumbs

Thanks Barry. Yup, the whole thing was wetsanded. A very long and tedious project.
