POLL: How is your detail business structured?

C. Charles Hahn

OK guys, I am working on a research project which requires me to determine the current trend in an industry when it comes to business structuring, so I have put together a poll for those of you here.

If you accept money in exchange for detailing in any way, shape, or form, I would truly appreciate your reply/vote in the poll.
If you want to include any details or clarification that would be helpful as well.

Your options are:

- No business license

- Sole Proprietorship

- Partnership

- Single Member LLC

- Multiple Member LLC

- S-Corporation

- C-Corporation

Thanks folks!

(Incidentally, why do we not have the ability to post a REAL poll for people to vote? Frustrating.)

Single member LLC.

Reason I went with the LLC was I owned a house at the time (not anymore) and wanted to ensure all my personal assets were separate from my business in the event that I am sued for something.

PM Ben it should be any easy 'fix'

I guess there isn't an option for a Poll in this sub-section (sorry)

Sole Props back in the day, but I would do a S-Corp next time....

Single LLC but then again every state is different and some recommend S Corp. This is one of those "ask your CPA" questions since there are many things that come into play here.

Very true, and very good point. For the purposes of this survey I'm mainly looking for a general industry trend, but if I were using the data differently that would certainly be a variable I'd have to take into account.

Thanks for your input!

Sole proprietor. However, I can say I know personally my clients or through word of mouth. If that was not a factor definitely LLC or S-corp, or once employees are involved.
