polishing wheels

Does anyone use their DA on wheels (clearcoated)? What pad would you recommend? Obviously for most wheels some handwork would be involved also.

Thanks.

I have used Menzerna FPII by hand before... but not with a DA. The results were marginal. I have only seen one person on the board use it with pics, he was detailing a 335 with the rims that have the really broad faced spokes. Came out quite nice.

I would recommend getting a powerball or something similar if the wheels needs alot of lovin.

I was thinking the powerball might be worth a shot. Thanks.

I have compounded and polished my wheels before, and I highly recommend the mini-powerball over a DA. I had great results using meguiar's UC and M205 followed by Z-CS. Nothing has brought the shine back to my wheels and protected it like Z-CS.

I usually use 4" pads via PC. The little Griot's 3" random orbital is nice too, but I've only used it for this a few times.

Most wheel clear seems kinda tough, so I often end up using more potent stuff than you might expect for the initial correction. Fortunately, the clear is also usually pretty thick.
