Polishing the roof

I spent most of the day working on my wife's car, a Mazda3 hatch. The dealer (err...) "washed" it, while it was covered in salt, and caused a tremendous amount of marring. I'm 6' tall and I'm having a hard time getting enough leverage on the Flex while polishing the roof. I tried standing on a short stool, had enough leverage for the edges of the roof, but couldn't reach its center. I'm hoping for some helpful suggestions.

I have a 3 and a 4 step ladder on hands. Makes it much easier... But the bench idea is a good one too if you can find one locally. ( I hate ordering stuff like that I'd rather have it now LOL)

You think that's bad, try working on the roof of one of these puppies... lifted!

The top of my head is a foot and a half under the top of the truck.

I built a sawhorse with a top big enough to stand on and set a bucket on as well. It works out just right for doing the roof of my Tundra Double Cab with a shell (topper).

It has a crossmember at each end so that it's easy enough to step up on top with your hands full.

I appreciate all the replies, guys. You've given me a lot to go on. Having run into this issue with a car as small as the Mazda, I have added respect for those who work on much larger vehicles.

I have five (not a typo) of these: Amazon.com: Bauer 20900 Fold-N-Carry Work Platform: Home Improvement

I got a price break by buying in quantity from the local Bauer distributor. I don't use them for just the SUV/minivan either, they're good for getting an all-angles view of the top of *any* vehicle.

If you guys get the all-aluminum ones I'd sure put some friction media on the top surfaces lest they get wet and slippery. I myself *greatly* prefer the larger working surface of the bigger platforms but they do cost a lot more. Of course, just one fall can end life as you know it, so the money's well-spent IMO.
