polishing snowmobile tunnel

Alright, someone has to have done this and found a better way.

I have been using Mother's Aluminum polish by hand an a power ball. I am having pretty decent luck with keeping the polishing uniform and am pleased with about 85 to 90 percent of the work. I have gotten just about one complete side done.

The question is the black mess of the polish. Buffing this back off, anyone found a good way other then a ton of towels? Any cleaners that aid in taking this off?

Seems like I spend twice the time getting the last smear out and buffing then I do applying product and polishing.

Thanks.

Use IPA (isopropyl alcohol/water mix) just like you would removing polish from paint. It breaks it down and makes removal very easy.

Thank You

I will go back out to the garage today and will be giving that a shot next for sure.

Is anybody putting any wax or sealant on aluminum to help keep the shine a bit longer? I personally have been thinking of waxing the tunnel down when finished if only to help keep ice from forming on the tunnel and boards as the snow and ice melt throughout the day.

Thanks again
